Automatically adding images to Category:Currencies

I've noticed that whenever this template is added to an image, the image is automatically added to Category:Currencies. I consider this problematic. Here's an example: Austrian 2 groschen coin - this belongs in Category:Coins, more specifically Category:Coins of Austria. Storing that file in Category:Currencies is over-categorizing.
