Template talk:Delete2

Bug? edit

I followed the directions at the bottom of Template:Delete for using{{delete2}} to make a sub-page.

I wrote

{{delete2|image=Image:ASBcover.jpg|reason=This is a book cover. Unless it was it was freely licensed by the original copyright holder, a photo probably can't be GFDL'd by the photographer. Recommend move to English Wikipedia as a fair use image.}} --~~~~

However, my sub-page turned out to be garbage.

Are the instructions incorrect, or confusing for beginners, in some way?

I ended up writing the sub-page by hand. --82.153.128.122 11:30, 7 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Yes it might be -- but I don't know how else to write it. I recommend you just use the "nominate for deletion" button in the side menu. Regards, Fred J 21:49, 22 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Box edit

{{editprotected}} Hi.

Commons:Deletion requests/box produces results similar to the following box (the actual pagename being different):

  • On the log, add :
    {{Template talk:Delete2}}

Please add "<noinclude>{{Commons:Deletion requests/box}}</noinclude>" (directly from my wikitext without the quotes) to the top of this template, so that it produces Deletion Requests more similar to those produced by Commons:Deletion requests/preload as a result of being preloaded by the action of the "Create the subpage" button in the 'Listing "Deletion Requests" of a page or file' section of 'Commons:Deletion requests'. I would also suggest that you do the same to Commons:Deletion requests/preload to improve modularization. Thanks!   — Jeff G. (talk|contribs) 16:50, 5 August 2007 (UTC)Reply

Not done correctly (but then it was partially my fault, I neglected "/" to close the noinclude tag). Please add it directly from my wikitext above (what you see on the edit page, not what you see on the talk page) without the quotes. Thanks!   — Jeff G. Done. -- Bryan (talk to me) 17:58, 23 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
OK, I'll be clearer. Thanks for what you've done, but that just puts the box on the Delete2 template; we need one more level of indirection to put it in the actual deletion request, as specified above. Please change it to "<nowiki><noin</nowiki><nowiki>clude>{{Commons:Deletion requests/box}}</noin</nowiki><nowiki>clude></nowiki>" (as you see it here on this talk page without the quotes). Thanks again!   — Jeff G. (talk|contribs) 18:09, 23 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
Great! The following is a 3rd test.   — Jeff G. (talk|contribs) 18:38, 23 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks very much!   — Jeff G. (talk|contribs) 01:53, 24 September 2007 (UTC)Reply
But please remove the extra blank line between the first </noinclude> and the first <includeonly> to form </noinclude><includeonly> because that extra blank line is messing up the diffs between first and second edits of every deletion request that used this template. Also, please throw {{esoteric}} into the noinclude section. Thanks again!   — Jeff G. (talk|contribs) 22:38, 14 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Template:iL edit

{{editprotected}} Please add "{{iL|{{{image|{{SUBPAGE<includeonly></includeonly>NAME}}}}}|noimagename=noimagename}}" (as you see it here on this talk page without the quotes). I have tested it at User:Jeff G./Delete2 and User:Jeff G./temp. Thanks again!   — Jeff G. (talk|contribs) 04:09, 8 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Please put a version as you would like it to be published somewhere. Thanks. Siebrand 09:02, 18 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
The version is at Template:Delete2/sandbox and the result of the test in this edit is at User:Jeff G./temp#Image_description_upload_sandbox.   — Jeff G. ツ 17:19, 5 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

Minor change edit

Is it possible to add a small line (-) before the username? (-~~~~).

Instead of "This is clearly a copyvio abbedabb" it would be "This is clearly a copyvio -abbedabb".

@Abbedabb: Please don't force your signature choices on others; instead, please consider adding that small line to your signature.   — Jeff G. please ping or talk to me 06:35, 20 August 2019 (UTC)Reply
