Need to update publication date

Per Indian Copyright Act of 1957 [1], the preliminary section states that the law shall be "enacted by Parliament in the Eighth Year of the Republic of India". Since Republic of India was established on 26 January 1950, the date this law went into effect should be January 1, 1957, not 1956. Does that look reasonable? I could not see a way to edit the text. Help, someone? Thanks!
