For me, the way it is expressed is quite misleading as it may be interpreted in several wrong maner. The fact that an image is of a patent does not mean that copyright does not apply.

There is no legal contradiction in having both kind of protection in a single "inventive matter".

in addition, what about the patentee representing in his patent a copyrighted image of a 3rd party ??? The violation of copyright by the patentee does not allow any other to copy this image as well !!!!

Bank notes edit

In support of the paper part of "a piece of currency", see the PDF linked to from this page: http : // www . snb . ch / e / banknoten / reproduktion / content_reprod . html. Also note the comment that images used ON banknotes MAY be copyright. 68.39.174.238 22:05, 17 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Here's the working link: http://www.snb.ch/e/banknoten/reproduktion/content_reprod.html. As to copyright, the PDF it links to says that: "Banknotes are not protected by the Swiss Federal Copyright Statute. However, individual works reproduced on banknotes are subject to copyright protection provided they have not been reproduced recognisably as a part of the banknote" (my emphasis). So I see no copyright problems for images of banknotes or banknote parts here. Sandstein 06:49, 18 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Road signs edit

Can this template be updated to reflect the assertion that Swiss road signs published by FEDRO are public domain? It isn't clear from the current language that this fits, and there's a whole Category:Diagrams of road signs of Switzerland, information symbols using {{PD-because}} instead of {{PD-Switzerland-official}}. The language in the template is from the copyright law. But the road signs are public domain per this template, because the images are defined in a legal text, the Signalization Ordinance (http://www.admin.ch/opc/de/classified-compilation/19790235/index.html, scroll down to the bottom). Thanks, Sandstein! I'll consider updating the language and templates on those signs that use {{PD-because}} so that they are better categorized by license. Storkk (talk) 12:43, 11 April 2014 (UTC)Reply
