Conflict of Interest Statement

This page is meant to clarify any potential conflict of interest (COI) for my participation on the jury for Wiki Loves Earth 2015.

I currently work as the Program Officer for Project and Event Grants (PEG) at the Wikimedia Foundation. I am also a professional photographer focused on adventure travel, nature, and portraiture. I am passionate about photography, and as a Wikimedia volunteer I enjoy adding photos to Wikipedia articles and participating in Commons photo contests.

As Program Officer for PEG, I approved the grant request for funding the international Wiki Loves Earth competition. At that time, I had not been invited to be a member of the jury and did not expect to participate in this way.

To avoid potential conflict of interest, I will follow the below guidelines:

1. Only participate on the WLE 2015 jury in my volunteer capacity, as User:Zhengan.
2. Only participate on the WLE 2015 jury during my non-working hours (outside of Monday-Friday, 9am-5pm PST).
3. Make sure the organizers of WLE 2015 include a link to this COI statement in any description of my participation on the jury.
4. Make sure the grant report is independently reviewed and approved by another Wikimedia Foundation staff member. Note: I will be on maternity leave when the report is due (November 29, 2015) so this will not be a problem.
