Hello QBay, I´ve found your article about Landkreis Ansbach! Greetings from Germany --Metzner 07:28, 8 August 2007 (UTC)

Bruckberg im Lk Ansbach.pngEdit

Thanks for this awesome map, I found it today, as I searched for media about Bruckberg and put it right in the article. -- Achates 11:49, 6 February 2008 (UTC)

How do you draw your maps?Edit

I like the maps you have made using the opengeodb program - could you send me a short explanation of how you do the roads? Thanks, Amwyll Rwden 22:12, 22 April 2008 (UTC)

your files for deletionEdit

could you explain why you consider your uploads have to be deleted. It's not own work or free work? some details can help to make correctly the deletion.

Friendly Oxam Hartog 21:03, 19 June 2009 (UTC)

Hello, Oxam Hartog. They are my handworks. But, I made them in inappropriate procedure without awareness. I've traced over images under copyright. One user point out it, and give me a caution. So, I do deletion them, immediately. I'm sorry for all that I make awful trouble because of my ignorance. Regards. --汲平 (talk) 02:12, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
Hm. I don't know if they're really copyvios. What is protected in maps is mostly the design, not the data concerning the streams, borders etc. (at least according to German law). So if your maps took the principal data from another source, but then changed the appearance of the maps, they would not be copyvios. But one would really have to see the original images you worked with to tell. Are they online somewhere? Regards --Rosenzweig δ 09:00, 20 June 2009 (UTC)
PS: Frankly, the kind of maps we're talking about aren't very sophisticated. All you have are several specifically shaped grey or red areas separated by white lines, some blue streams now and then. And that is it, there is nothing else, no shapes indicating villages, no roads, no signs, nothing. Since this isn't high art like Malevich or so, I sincerely doubt if such basic maps can be protected by copyright at all. I'm not quite sure about Commons, but I'm confident the German wikipedia won't have a problem with them (will ask there later to be sure), so if they really should get deleted here, I'll try to get someone to duplicate them to de.wp as an interim measure until proper replacement maps can be made. Regards --Rosenzweig δ 09:14, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

I reverted your edits. Speedy deletion is no appropriate way for this case and nobody would delete this file without prior discussion. As a side effect, working with the speedy deletion category is impossible after such actions. Please list them in a regular request for deletion, name your source and after some months there will be a decision. Regards, --Polarlys (talk) 10:43, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the heads up about File:Map Schwabisch Hall.png. Because User:Polarlys reverted your changes, you don't need to worry, I think. — OwenBlacker | Discussion 13:04, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

Thank you, Oxam Hartog, Rosenzweig, Polarlys and OwenBlacker. I listed the suspected files on User:汲平/maps of German towns. Also links to sources are there. I listed the page in regular request. Should the {{delete}} tab be added to each image? --汲平 (talk) 13:34, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

Hello Qbay, I looked at that page and I still do not think you actually violated any copyrights with your maps. If you, however, want to go ahead with a deletion request to get a decision, the page Commons:Deletion requests/Mass deletion request explains how to do this for multiple files at once. Regards --Rosenzweig δ 13:49, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
Hello Rosenzweig. I don't know much about copyright. I don't know if my files are really violated copyrights. When I received a caution, I simply felt the suspicious ones should be deleted. But, now, I think it must be discussed. I proposed the deletion request on Commons:Deletion requests/2009/06/20 (Commons:Deletion requests/User:汲平/maps of German towns) according to the japanese guidance.--汲平 (talk) 12:49, 23 June 2009 (UTC)

Hello 汲平, would you please consider the suggestion at File talk:Map of Landkreis Schuwäbisch Hall.png#Additional label ? — Greetings from around the region covered. -- 11:15, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

Please help replace this outdated licenseEdit

Thank you for donating images to the Wikimedia Commons. You have uploaded some images in the past with the license {{PD}}. While this was a license acceptable in the early days of Wikimedia, since January 2006, this license has been deprecated and since October 2008 no new uploads with this license was allowed.

The license on older images should be replaced with a better and more specific license/permissions and you can help by checking the images and adding {{PD-self}} if you are the author or one of the other templates that you can see in the template on the image page.

Thank you for your help. If you need help feel free to ask at Commons talk:Licensing or contact User:Zscout370.

The images we would like you to check are:

BotMultichillT 21:26, 8 January 2010 (UTC)

The image was upload on German wikipedia by user:Elektromann under PD. So I fix the license to {{PD-user-w}}. Thank you for pointing out. Regards. --汲平 (talk) 03:05, 9 January 2010 (UTC)

Request concerning your locator maps for numerous districts in Bavaria, GermanyEdit

Hi Qbay, I have a request concerning your locator maps for a number of districts in Bavaria. You pointed out that you uploaded a number of files in error and by violation of copyrights. We know now that that is not the case. However, in cooperation with another wiki-user I have created thousands of locator maps since early last year in always the same design. We have done that for most of Germany by now, only Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg are missing. You can see what we've done so far here, unfortunately only in German. Now, my question to you is: Would you be willing to have me replace your locator maps in the (German) articles where used? As far as I can see that would be the districts of Hof, Wunsiedel, Bayreuth, Erlangen-Höchstadt, Roth, Ansbach and Coburg. You can see an example here. The files I produce contain rivers and caption and an overview map, which yours don't. They are in svg-format which is the prefered format for maps and we will also produce an imagemap for them. Thank you in advance for your answer. --Hagar66 (talk) 10:10, 23 March 2010 (UTC)

Notification about possible deletionEdit

Commons-emblem-issue.svg Some contents have been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether they should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at their entry.

If you created these pages, please note that the fact that they have been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with them, such as a copyright issue.
Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!
