File:McCain_with_Palin_&_Johnson.jpg has been marked as a possible copyright violation. Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content—that is, images and other media files that can be used by anyone, for any purpose. Traditional copyright law does not grant these freedoms, and unless noted otherwise, everything you find on the web is copyrighted and not permitted here. For details on what is acceptable, please read Commons:Licensing. You may also find Commons:Copyright rules useful, or you can ask questions about Commons policies at the Commons:Help desk. If you are the copyright holder and the creator of the file, please read Commons:But it's my own work! for tips on how to provide evidence of that.
The file you added has been deleted. If you have written permission from the copyright holder, please have them send us a free license release via COM:VRT. If you believe that the deletion was not in accordance with policy, you may request undeletion. (It is not necessary to request undeletion if using VRT; the file will be automatically restored at the conclusion of the process.) Warning: Wikimedia Commons takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

File:Ted_Cruz.jpg has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.
If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues. |

June 2010 edit
Please do not remove the Flickr review and license templates like you did to File:Mike Schreiner fund raiser at Hart House 2009.jpg. Bidgee (talk) 04:06, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
Where did you get the idea that it had been withdrawn? edit
I never withdrew my request as you indicated here: [1] so I'm wondering what the meaning of that edit was. Beeblebrox (talk) 17:53, 4 September 2010 (UTC)
Please do not remove warnings edit

If you have received warnings for copyright issues, please familiarize yourself with our policy on licensing. You can also ask for help at the village pump or the help desk if you need assistance.License modification edit
Please don't modify licenses given by other uploaders to "fair use" as you did on File:DukeAionaMay2010.jpg, File:John Raese.JPG and File:Kelly Ayotte.jpg. These files are nominated for deletion or awaiting permission and changing the license until this is sorted out is disruptive. Regards Hekerui (talk) 20:22, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
- These images are already nominated for deletion for missing evidence of permission. Don't add speedy deletion notices unless you can prove they are copyright violations. Hekerui (talk) 20:27, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
Hi, you modyfied the license under which File:Kelly Ayotte.jpg was uploaded. There is a deletion discussion about the file as it was uploaded, so instead comment on the deletion discussion. I started the discussion because a speedy deletion had been previously declined on the enwiki version. The image was not claimed to be fair use so you can't pretend it was and then have it deleted. Regards Hekerui (talk) 10:09, 3 December 2010 (UTC)
Please do not upload attack/vandalism images such as File:Tomclements2.jpg edit
- The template {{subst:npd}} already exists. No need more templates. Geagea (talk) 23:26, 23 December 2010 (UTC)
- I think there maybe confusion as I did not upload or edit the content of the photo. It has been marked for speedy deletion since it is clearly uploaded straight off the campaign website. Admin, NuclearWarfare, told me it is best to add the speedy delete template to photos like, File:Tomclements2.jpg, that are overdue for deletion. If this is incorrect conduct please tell me. User:Aaaccc, 23 December 2010 (UTC)
- It is already marked as {{subst:npd}}. Stop editwaring about that. No need for speedy. Geagea (talk) 23:37, 23 December 2010 (UTC)
- If I can not use the speedy template how do photos long overdue for deletion finally get deleted then? User:Aaaccc, 23 December 2010 (UTC)
- You can use speedy but not in case that {{subst:npd}} or {{subst:nsd}} are already exist. In any case you dont edit waring but trying to understand/ask/discusse in the talk page ect.Geagea (talk) 23:56, 23 December 2010 (UTC)

Fair-use tagging edit
Hi, please stop replacing appropriate templates - like no-source for File:Giffords Photo.JPG - with a template falsely indicating that a fair-use claim was made. Regards Hekerui (talk) 00:15, 20 January 2011 (UTC)
- My mistake I will refrain from doing so in the future. Aaaccc (talk), 20 January 2011 (UTC)
Hi Aaaccc,
could you add a citation or link to your cv-rationale "from the previous rulings I have seen, C-SPAN is not considered a work of the federal government and therefore not public domain" at File:Carte Goodwin temporary picture.jpg. --Túrelio (talk) 14:32, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
Hi Aaaccc,
do you know what the orange box with the word "OTRS" on this file means? Please study that, before speedy-tagging a file with a seemingly valid OTRS-ticket again. --Túrelio (talk) 23:06, 29 January 2011 (UTC)
Flickr uploads edit
Hello Aaaccc. I just corrected some Flickr uploads that had the wrong license (example). These two licenses are different. Please check that you are tagging the images with the same license as on Flickr. If you tag with the wrong license, it is more work for other volunteers to change it for every image. I recommend the Flinfo tool for uploading Flickr images (example). The tool even works for crops of Flickr images (just copy and paste the suggested image description info and modify as necessary).--Chaser (talk) 00:46, 7 February 2011 (UTC)
Usage of my image edit
Hey Aaaccc, great that you found a good usage of my image at File:Leland_Yee.jpg. Thanks. --14:48, 4 June 2011 (UTC)

Hi Aaaccc, please do not remove image descriptions or Flickr-review records. I've reverted all these edits, including the speedies. --06:06, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

Wikimedia Commons does not accept fair use content.
We do this because Commons is a shared media repository. Downstream wikis have different policies based on local laws. Uses that are acceptable under US law, for example, may not be acceptable in many other countries with more restrictive rules. In addition, fair use is not compatible with our aim as a collection of freely distributable media files. Therefore, Commons cannot legally rely on fair use provisions. Non-free content that may be used with reference to fair use may be uploaded locally if your project allows this.

Speedy deletion edit
Hello. The relative quality of an image and/or its educational use are not valid grounds for a speedy deletion request. If you have such concerns about such an image, please nominate for deletion in the normal course. Thanks, --Skeezix1000 (talk) 12:40, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Aaaccc, probably this message does not apply to you because I assume it was a misunderstanding by Skeezix1000 - see User_talk:Skeezix1000#version_deletion_vs._speedy. Cheers --Saibo (Δ) 16:11, 15 July 2011 (UTC)
- Saibo is correct. I confused your deletion rationale with the speedy tag. Aaaccc, ignore my comment. --Skeezix1000 (talk) 16:34, 15 July 2011 (UTC)

FlickrReview concerns edit
Please do not remove valid Flickr review tags and then place a tag for new Flickr review. Creative commons licenses are not revokable and prior valid Flickr review tags should not be removed. Thanks for your understanding. Warfieldian (talk) 13:59, 27 August 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for fixing them my mistake. -Aaaccc (talk), 27 August 2011 (UTC)
- Could I kindly ask you to not add a FlickReview tag to an image that was created by the uploader. I created this image, and uploaded it, under a free license, which is non-revokable. The license it uses on FlickR is entirely irrelevant. It didn't come from FlickR. It came from me. I created it. I own it. I legally released it on an appropriate CC license, allowing anybody to use it for any person, forever. I would ask you please undo any similar edits. You're causing images to be permanently deleted for no reason. I haven't been on Commons for a while, so I'm not sure if this has happened a lot before. --Rob (talk) 21:29, 29 August 2011 (UTC)

Source of derivative work is not properly indicated: File:Tea Party sign against ObamaCare.jpg edit
This file may be deleted. |
A file that you have uploaded to Wikimedia Commons, File:Tea Party sign against ObamaCare.jpg, is a derivative work, containing an "image within an image". Examples of such works would include a photograph of a sculpture, a scan of a magazine cover, or a map that has been altered from the original. In each of these cases, the rights of the creator of the original must be considered, as well as those of the creator of the derivative work.
While the description page states who made this derivative work, it currently doesn't specify who created the original work, so the overall copyright status is unclear. If you did not create the original work depicted in this image, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. Please edit the file description and add the missing information, or the file may be deleted. If you created the original content yourself, enter this information as the source. If someone else created the content, the source should be the address to the web page where you found it, the name and ISBN of the book you scanned it from, or similar. You should also name the author, provide verifiable information to show that the content is in the public domain or has been published under a free license by its author, and add an appropriate template identifying the public domain or licensing status, if you have not already done so. Please add the required information for this and other files you have uploaded before adding more files. If you need assistance, please ask at the help desk. Thank you! |
