Why do you redefine my picture files?

Why this? All my files (over 4000) have consistant names with date ending, except of these now! Besides, when I load up more pictures of Fiat Palio, I can differentiate them through the date! Please redefine them back! --Randy43 (talk) 18:13, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

Hello,
I did this cause they will be more easy to find, you should always try to use a name without date. Huib talk Abigor @ meta 18:18, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
Why should I try to use a name without date? There is absolute no reason! So it is not good! When I upload new picture of Palio, it will overwrite this! My pictures are good enough to find through categories. Otherwise there are to change all my 4000-5000 pictures! Please! Redefine my pictures, your edit was absolute nonsense! Must be checked! --Randy43 (talk) 18:36, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

P.S. here is my list of much thousands of files, you have much to do to redefine them all without date! --Randy43 (talk) 19:39, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

You should read http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Commons:File_naming the date doesn't give extra value to the image so it should be removed. And maybe somebody should use a bot to remove the date of all the other files. Huib talk Abigor @ meta 19:51, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) I'd like to second Randy43's concern about this file rename. Randy43 contacted me about this, as I had approved the renaming command while batch approving others, but I don't agree with the basis for this rename. Please make sure that your renames agree with the file renaming guidelines, or your filemover right may be removed in the near future. "[T]he date doesn't give extra value to the image so it should be removed" isn't a valid renaming reason per those guidelines. Thanks! Logan Talk Contributions 19:53, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
I do think that the policy is clear about it in number 4 this is not a animal, but the story is the same. Anyways, I still think you should not put dates in your uploaded file names. Huib talk Abigor @ meta 19:56, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
(Edit conflict) What are you talking about? That one is for meaningless animal names that are renamed to binomial scientific names. That has nothing to do with removing the date from a file name. Just because you "think you should not put dates in your uploaded file names" doesn't mean that you should rename them to not include dates if people like to name their files that way. I have a personal category for all my images, and use the photo's date as a sortkey. Allows simple naming and easy sorting. -mattbuck (Talk) 20:05, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
I want to have back the old name of my files, the redefining of my files is absolute arbitrariness. It is a principle for me, if my files are not renamed back, i'll stop my cooperation in commons! --Randy43 (talk) 20:26, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
The commons policy stops me from doing that, so you will need a other user for that. Huib talk Abigor @ meta 20:27, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
You've done that shit, so look for an other administrator yourself for that! --Randy43 (talk) 20:30, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
No, I will not... And this discussion has ended, have a nice day :) Huib talk Abigor @ meta 20:34, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

You are not a good administrator, you should stop working as such, and it's better not to talk about your charakter! --Randy43 (talk) 20:40, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

I'm not a administrator :) Huib talk Abigor @ meta 20:41, 19 May 2012 (UTC)
so thank god for this, but better not tell here what you are!!! --Randy43 (talk) 20:44, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

Yours. End of discussion for me Bye --Randy43 (talk) 21:22, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

What picture of mine? I only uploaded like 7000 orso. Huib talk Abigor @ meta 21:23, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

Today you have disgraced yourself and may be ashamed. Just I know which picture from yourself. I see it and I'm amused... --Randy43 (talk) 22:05, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

No, today I had a great day, I saw a german soccerteam lose the Champions Leuge, had some nice clients. I have a great day, but you are making a fool of urself. Huib talk Abigor @ meta 22:08, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

Oh I had a fine day, too. I saw a typical dutch film with a typical dutch family. The film is called "Flodders" That's the difference, you must today not make a fool of yourself any more, it's done since your birth. And this face, amusing...--Randy43 (talk) 22:19, 19 May 2012 (UTC) --Randy43 (talk) 22:19, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

Abigor/Huib: [1] "better" is not a valid file move criterion. Please re-examine Commons:File renaming and do not repeat such moves. Thanks. Materialscientist (talk) 22:51, 19 May 2012 (UTC)

having problem uploading picture @wikipedia

hello. i just received your message that my upload was deleted because it could not be uploaded on wikipedia. i am trying hard to upload it as a logo of an organization but every time i do this, i get a message at the end: upload failed : invalid token. idk what the actual problem is, but i am really going nuts now trying it again and again. this is the reason i uploaded the png picture to the commons so that i can use it. Please help me. It would be real kind of you.

Hello,
Book covers, Cd covers, posters and logos are all protected by copyrights. The only way to upload them on commons is to get permission from the original author or rights holder. That permission should be send to OTRS. When the receive the permission the will try to verify it and you will get a respond with a ticket number. When you place the ticket number on the image description page it will be fine.
Now I know its kind of hard to get the permission under a free license and most of the time you will not even get permission.
There is a other way, Some Wikis use a Fair use policy, Those project are listed here. On those project you can upload the image locally without any problems, and without copyvio. So please check of your project is listed there, and upload it locally or try to get permission.
I hope that this answer could help you,
