Question

I would like to upload a file but I don't know if it would be aloud on Commons. I took it with Google Earth. It's an Aerial photo of Haines City, Florida. It's on my photo bucket account right now here. Let me know if it can be uploaded here. HI ChristianMan. Unfortunately, as it's a derivative of a copyrighted image and was not released under a compatible license, you can't upload it to commons. It's even watermarked and tagged with a copyright. Really sorry about that :( On another note, I'm going to keep trying on getting your SUL account sorted. Which name are you looking to keep for SUL? Channel 2 doesn't own the rights to that image. The fan does and I'm sure he would want it used that way. Must y'all target me? EVERY image. 1. From what I understand "the fan" gave up his rights to the image by submitting it to the news company. 2. Even if "the fan" still has the image rights, he hasn't licensed it under a free license. If he wants his image to be used "that way", then kindly email the fan and tell him to send the permissions to OTRS. 3. If you think I'm abusive you are free to request that my admin flag be removed, see COM:DESYSOP. ← Guys, please! My talk page is bunged up with your back-and-forth. Firstly, User:ChristianMan16, Monobi is quite correct in this instance. Fair use images or copyrighted images are verboten on Commons. This was one of the sticking points that got you banned over on enwiki; your blatant and impervious disregard for image policy over there. No problem, Aaron. The thing is, though, that you tend to look before you leap and really, you should maybe take some time to browse through image copyright policy and copyright laws. There's tons of information on here that can help you. It's pretty complex and to be honest, I have to watch carefully where I step as even different countries have different PD criteria, etc. It's a minefield.
