Situation on FPC

Hello Joaquim! How are you today? Look, I'm writing you because there is a situation going on on FPC and I wanted to have your neutral point of view. I know you have not been too active lately but I know you care about Commons FPC a lot. Therefore I kind of want to know your point of view about this situation... The thing is, there is a nominator who got a picture featured on hungarian wikipedia. Then, (I am guessing) he told all of his friend hungarian users to support him on Commons. I am deliberately guessing because he got 9-10 supports in less than a day, and all users who voted are hungarian. Pretty obvious huh? Alright, so I told him to put himself in the shoes of other nominators and think if that was fair, and suggested to reconsider their votes. To which he answered, seemingly really offended, using terms like "I REFUSE your accusations and find this utterly ridiculous and disgusting. Anyways, you have been active for so long, you certainly have had some situations like this one in the past. Is it ok for us to oppose based on, let's say "electoral corruption"? Is it cool for him to get votes like that? What have you guys done in the past with cases like this one? Sorry for bothering you, but it would be cool if you enlightened me about this... thank you in advance for your help (and thanks again for the advice on the Tokina lens :) ).

• Hello Paolo. Canvassing happens regularly in this forum but it seldom prevails. That is because there are usually enough regulars around to counterweight the canvassed votes. Other than that and eliminating the non-allowed votes (e.g. young accounts and socks) there is mot much we can do. In the past I remember having started threads in the FPC talk page to deal with those matters, but I don't think it is necessary, as the community has already responded eloquently to it. -- Alvesgaspar (talk) 19:27, 17 April 2012 (UTC)

Mass reverts

• As far as I know there is no consensus for inserting that kind of information into the template. In the last discussion, and correct me if I'm wrong, only the FP information was accepted to be included. -- Alvesgaspar (talk) 13:49, 3 May 2012 (UTC)

Belgium?

Hi Joaquim.

A pity I didn't know you were around. We could've met IRL.
Me at the other hand am just back from Iceland but I won't take picture anymore soon. Arriving in Brussels railway station, all my photo equipment (body lenses, flash, video camera, small laptop) was stolen in a moment of lost concentration after 10 hours of traveling. I'm not sure I'll ever start again...

• Hi Hans, nice to hear from you. Sorry to know about the loss of your gear. But Photography is a cronic disease and you will eventually have to get the necessary medicine! Yes, I went to St-Niklaas to participate in this conference and had some time free in Ghent and Brussels. Some evidence that the man is walking towards the camera. Look at the left foot(towards the walking stick). POTY 2011

Hi, thanks for your comment and suggestion. It's probably a bit late now as the competition has concluded. I'm trying to create a version now that highlights the category winners. There are some other ideas, but I may not get around to them. It turns out that the gallery environment is not very flexible, but it has the advantage that it automatically treats landscape and portrait format images the same, whereas when using tables, this has to be done manually, and I haven't quite figured it out yet. Tables are nicer in the end because more information can be displayed. I wasn't sure whether you had figured out how exactly it would be formatted, so feel free to make a test edit on my page to show me (and then revert yourself). Cheers.
