Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2016 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eleventh edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2016) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1475 candidate images. There are 58 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top #1 and #2 from each sub-category.

In the final round, you may vote for just one or maximal three image to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 2 will end on 20 April 2017, 23:59:59 UTC.

Actualización Mapas Lineas del Metro de Stgo.

Hola hay cambios en las rutas expresas de la Líneas 2 y 5 La línea 6 esta a puto de ser inaugurado:

En el mapa la estación Lo Errázuriz no aparece confirmada por parte de la empresa como parte de la construcción de la L6 y la estación Club Hípico ahora se llama Presidente Pedro Aguirre Cerda.

En el mapa de la Línea 3 la estación Diagonal Oriente ahora es Villa Frei.

En los mapas de las líneas 2 y 5 las estaciones Franklin y Ñuble pasan a ser Estación Común mientras que Rondizzoni y Cumming pasa a ser Estación Ruta Verde y Quinta Normal será Estación Ruta Roja.

In both File:Elección presidencial Chile 2017 por país.svg and File:Elección presidencial Chile 2017 (2V) por país.svg which you uploaded, can you add the border of South Sudan which became independent in 2011 (because it is missing in these two maps depicting the year 2017 and is too large too ignore)?

(I am adding South Sudan (as well as Montenegro and other possible missing updates) in the PNG maps in Category:Maps needing South Sudan political boundaries and then remove this category after updating them. There were close to 1100 maps since I started to update these files on 1 March 2018, now it is reduced to less than 630 maps, but there is a long way to go. However as an SVG illiterate, I cannot correct and/or update SVG files.)

Important message for file movers

A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.

Possible acceptable uses of this ability:

• To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
• To perform file name swaps.
• When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)

Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. Chile Constitutional Convention Results Map

Hi there. I noticed you added a few things to the results map of the constitutional convention election in Chile. First of all, thanks for adding those things and correcting some of my mistakes (the use of that pretty green for independents looks very nice). My thought is, though, that the addition of the second map to the right might convey the message that the election used some sort of MMP, which is of course not the case. Less importantly, why did you remove party logos on the side? (I don't mind that much; I just thought they looked nice). Anyway, what are your thoughts on this? Hi! First of all, thanks for your work, it was amazing. I added the second map because I think it was also important to highlight the most-voted list. I thought about doing in other file but always the shape of Chile makes it difficult to use this kind of maps, haha, so then I used the same file. monumentos.cl offline...

Hi @B1mbo, while creating Iglesia de la Virgen de la Candelaria, i've noticed that the Link created by the Template Monumento Nacional de Chile to the Monumentos Nacionales Database is broken. It points to http://www.monumentos.cl/OpenSupport_Monumento/asp..., while the Database is now available here: https://www.monumentos.gob.cl/monumentos. Sadly, i haven't found any hints regarding a public API for that new URL. Do you know if the new db offers API access, too, so we could fix the template-generated links? Additionally, it seems that the Monument IDs have changed. For example, while the Iglesia de San Santiago had the old ID 2228, the new ID is 01307_MH_15201.
