Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Hallo Lewenstein, yeap, das ist aber vollkommen und auch richtig, liegt in England am Hadrianswall. Habe das Bild versehentlich hochgeladen und noch nicht gelöscht, da ich derzeit froh bin, dass ich das mit dem Hochladen der Bilder überhaupt geschafft habe, und wie ich falsch hochgeladene Bilder wieder löschen kann, da muss ich erst nachlesen. Hollo Lewenstein, noch ein Fehler, das Gebäude liegt natürlich nicht in England, sondern in Schottland, Edinburgh. Hoffe nur dass das jetzt kein Schotte gelesen hat, das ich ein schottisches Haus nach England verpflanzt habe. Die haben nämlich schon einen sehr starken Nationalstolz, diese Schotten und könnten böse sein. Liebe Grüße Thomas

Hallo lewenstein, Danke für die Umbenennung. Jetzt kann keiner mehr das Steyrer Lebzelterhaus mit Edinburgh verwechseln. Ich habe übrigens dein Photo vom Bürgerspital auf die richtige Adresse Michaelerplatz 1 verschoben. Die ehemalige Bürgerspitalskirche (heutiger Vorstadtpfarrhof, grüner Bau) hat die Adresse Michaelerplatz 1. Das eigentliche, dem Magistrat gehörende Bürgerspital, weißes Gebäude links des ehemaligen Kirchturmes, wird derzeit, wie du sicherlich gesehen hast, restauriert und dieses Gebäude hat die Adresse Michaelerplatz 2. Zum Abschluss noch ein paar Hinweise fürs komfortable Arbeiten: Das nachträgliche Kategorisieren klappt am besten mit Hot Cat (auf "Einstellungen" klicken und dann auf "Helferlein", Abschnitt "Kategoriehelferlein"). Wiki Loves Monuments 2011 Wettbewerb

Hallo Thomas, schön dass du so viele gute Bilder von Steyr und Umgebung hochlädst. Wenn du willst, dass die auch am Wettbewerb teilnehmen, musst du die Vorlage {{Wiki Loves Monuments 2011|at}} in die Bilder einfügen. Die ID reicht mW dafür nicht.

Und noch ein Tipp: Du kategorisierst deine Bilder unter Category:Cultural heritage monuments in Austria. Das ist die alleroberste Kategorie und enthält insgesamt mehrere 1000 Bilder. Besser wäre es, wenn du deine Bilder in einer möglichst genauen Unterkategorie einfügen würdest, z.B. Category:Cultural heritage monuments in Steyr oder Category:Cultural heritage monuments in Bezirk Steyr-Land. Hallo Herzi Pinki, also erstens ein herzliches Dankeschön dass du bisher meine Bilder betreut hast. Die Category Cultural heritage monuments in Austria ist wahrlich nicht wirklich sinnvoll gewesen. Habe "meine" heutigen zwei Bilder schon nach Steyr und Bezirk Steyr-Land gestellt. Danke für den Tipp und zweitens, schön dass dir meine Bilder gefallen. Versuche zumindest bei Steyr die Häuser so zu photographieren dass das Licht halbwegs passt, nach Möglichkeit keine Autos rumstehen, und die Erdgeschoßzone nicht durch Geschäftsutensilien beeinträchtig ist. Spaziere daher manchmal auch mehrmals zu einem Haus. Der Photowettbewerb ist mir persönlich nicht wirklich wichtig, wichtiger ist mir dass die Bilder und die Objektbeschreibungen passen. Weyer - wer fährt hin?

Hallo Thomas, hast Du vor, die Liste von Weyer zu bebildern? Ich möchte Dir nicht wieder ein paar Tage zuvorkommen(siehe Rohr, Pfarrkirchen). Ausserdem spare ich mir dann die Fahrt. Von Neuhofen a.d. Krems ist das ja schon ein schönes Stück, aber Weyer zahlt sich aus. Ich war schon öfter dort, die Bilder eignen sich aber nicht so sehr als Dokumentation im Sinne der Liste. Mir geht es im Wesentlichen darum, dass nicht Zwei das Gleiche fotografieren - ist ja noch genug für Alle da. Ich bitte Dich um Info zu Deinen Plänen bezüglich Weyer und den Straßen von Steyr.Ich war vor Kurzem an einem Wochenende in der Sierningerstraße(Steyr) - zum Vergessen! Hallo Walter, also Weyer hab ich auch noch nicht fotographiert, nur einige Objekte in der Laussa, Ternberg hab ich hingegen schon fertig. Da ich zur Zeit nur in Ausnahmefällen über ein Auto verfüge und die Sonne eigentlich zum Photographieren jetzt nicht so geeignet ist, hätte ich Weyer wahrscheinlich erst im Frühjahr gemacht. Wenn du Weyer machen möchtest, kein Problem (dann muss ich meine Photos, wenn du wieder schneller warst, nicht wieder in die zweite Reihe stellen). Bitte informiere mich nur vorher, damit wir nicht wieder zur selben Zeit am selben Ort sind. Nein im Ernst, Steyr-Land ist mit nicht so wichtig. Wichtig ist mir Steyr, ich verfasse auch an Hand der einzelnen Denkmalschutzbescheide bzw. des Buches "Steyrdorf-Wehrgraben-Wieserfeld" die Texte zu Steyr (und dass ist manchmal halt doch etwas mühsam, wenn man nur einen Zweizeiler zur Verfügung hat). Da ich aber am Magistrat Steyr, in der Fachabteilung für Altstadterhaltung, Denkmalpflege und Stadterneuerung arbeite und Umbaumassnahmen an denkmalgeschützten Gebäuden betreue, sitze ich sozusagen an der Quelle. Interessant das an Hand meiner Photos auch schon Leute aus den Umlandgemeinden angerufen haben. Nach den spröden Texten belohne ich mich dann mit einem Bild. Da ich in Steyr in der Altstadt wohne (in einem denkmalgeschützten Haus, Photo noch nicht vorhanden) suche ich ein Objekt meist mehrmals auf, damit ein halbwegs brauchbares Photo entsteht (Licht, keine Autos, keine Leute) gelingt auch nicht immer, da gerade jetzt das photographieren schwierig ist. Da ich aber fußläufig in Kürze alle Objekte erreiche kann ich ein Objekt auch öfter aufsuchen. Habe auch schon viele Photos "auf Vorrat". Aber derzeit ist das Photographieren, wie du selbst gemerkt hast, äußerst ungünstig. Also grundsätzlich hätte ich vor Steyr langsam abzuarbeiten, jeden Tag ein Text und zugehöriges Photo. Und ich möchte Steyr auch aktuell halten, sobald eine Sanierung abgeschlossen ist, möchte ich dann auch das Bild austauschen, auf Grund meines Berufes weiss ich halt auch immer wo was gemacht wird. Mit Steyr-Land hab ich nur wegen der Abwechslung angefangen, da Steyr fast doch nur aus lauter Bürgerhäusern besteht (wird mit der Zeit halt a bisserl fad). Also, wie gesagt Steyr würde ich gerne (in meinem etwas langsamen Tempo (Beamter!)) weiterbearbeiten, Weyer ist mir grundsätzlich nicht wirklich wichtig. Hallo Thomas, ich danke für Deine rasche Antwort. Heute war ich in Pettenbach und habe x-mal abgedrückt und mit Ach und Krach drei verwertbare Bilder hin bekommen. Das Licht ist im Moment extrem, daher sind auch die Schatten sehr hart. Die Folge ist, dass Gebäude oft gleichzeitig zur Hälfte unter- und überbelichtet sind. Da weiß nicht einmal die Kameraautomatik was sie machen soll und ich schon gar nicht. Ich bin daher der Meinung, dass man die schönen Motive von Weyer sowieso bei besseren Bedingungen, z.B. im Frühling ablichten sollte. Wer immer das dann macht – womöglich findet sich bis dahin auch jemand vor Ort. Wir können aber auch noch was für den Wettbewerb 2012 übrig lassen. Wie ich Deinen Äußerungen an anderer Stelle entnommen habe, ist unser beider Interesse an dem Bewerb ziemlich bei Null, aber wenn es die Aufmerksamkeit auf die heimatlichen Schätze lenkt, dann ist es OK. Ich war schon kurz davor, Enns „fertig zumachen“, habe aber aus diesem Grund ein paar schöne Motive, nicht nur die Stadtmauerreste, übrig gelassen. Deine Position(en) in Steyr (Wohnung und Beruf) sind natürlich ideal für Dein Vorhaben. Du kannst praktisch Deine Chance abwarten. Ich halte mich raus, es sei denn, Du hattest gerne was erledigt gehabt. Ich finde ausreichende Motive in den Bezirken Kirchdorf und Wels-Land. Die Sachen sind dort zwar nicht so geballt wie in Steyr, aber man ist zuweilen sprachlos, wenn man bemerkt, was man lange Zeit übersehen hat. Dazu kommen dann noch die Zuckerl. Im Bezirk Kirchdorf gibt es z.B. mehrere „aufwändige“ Fälle. Das coolste Objekt ist die „Jagdhütte Bärnriedlau“ im Sengsengebirge in Roßleiten: zu Fuß mindestens 3 Stunden hin und wieder retour für ein Bild! Allein die Suche nach den Koordinaten hat mich einige Zeit in Anspruch genommen. Grundstücksfläche lt DORIS: 5.027.187 m². Gefunden hab ich die Hütte dann auf der Kompass Wanderkarte. Es führt tatsächlich ein markierter Weg vorbei! Oder die Seisenburg in Pettenbach, etc.etc. Ich will es ja nicht verschreien, aber ich glaube, dass diese Objekte und ein paar einsame Bauernsacherl in den Bergen übrig bleiben. Was ich mir sicher nicht antun werde, sind die Felsenbilder in der HÖLL (Spital am Pyhrn) – der Name sagt Alles. Dort habe ich schon vor 30 Jahren gesucht und nichts gefunden! Bezüglich Quellen für die Beschreibungen stehen wir vermutlich vor ähnlichen Problemen. Für Kirchen, Pfarrhöfe und Schlösser gibt es eventuell noch Hinweise (Pillwein auf Google.books), aber für Einzelobjekte (Bauernhöfe, Kleindenkmäler) auf dem Land wird es finster. Das Neuhofener Archiv ist z.B. 1857 abgebrannt, aber auch wenn´s es noch gäbe: wer könnte es lesen? Und Latein habe ich als Techniker auch nie gelernt.... Hallo Walter, das mit Pettenbach klingt echt hart, aber die finstere Zeit ist ja nun vorbei, die Tage werden wieder länger und auch das Licht wird wieder besser. "Jagdhütte Bärnriedlau" klingt toll, bin schon gespannt auf das Photo. Wenn ich mich recht erinnere, gabs heuer zum Tag des offenen Denkmals eine geführte Wanderung zur Hütte, konnte aber nicht daran teilnehmen, da ich in Steyr selbst bei zwei Führungen eingeteilt war. Seisenburg, ja auch eine ganz tolle Wanderung. Die Ruine leider etwas zu gutgemeint saniert. Meine Motivation für Steyr Land war einfach, dass ich als Mühlviertler zwar nun schon 20 Jahre im Raum Steyr-Steyrtal wohne (beziehungsbedingt), Molln, Steyr, Sierning 2000-2010 (in einem denkmalgeschützten Haus), und nun seit 2010 (beziehungsendbedingt) wieder in Steyr wohne, ich aber den Bezirk, insbesondere das Ennstal, und seine, wie du es so schön formuliert hast, heimaltichen Schätze nicht kannte. Ich habe das Ennstal bislang nur auf der Bundesstraße durchquert und nichts gesehen. Großraming und Reichraming waren für mich diesbezüglich eine tolle Entdeckungsreise. Was die Literatur anbelangt siehts leider wirklich düster aus, die Arbeiten am Dehio Oberösterreich südlich der Donau (geplant 2 Bände und sicher über 2000 Seiten) sind seitens des Bundesdenkmalamtes aus Geldmangel bis auf weiters eingestellt. Meinem Wissenstand nach ist aber alles bis auf Vöcklabruck und Steyr, hier sollte 2009 begonnen werden, bereits erhoben. Und da wäre jedes Bauernschacherl mit einer Kurzbeschreibung drinnen. Ich fürchte aber das sich der Dehio stark verzögern wird, wenn er überhaupt je fertiggestellt wird. Mit Steyr wurde bislang noch nicht begonnen. Und die Archive, auch ein Problem, ich bin fallweise auch im Steyrer Stadtarchive tätig, aber brauchbare Objektbeschreibungen sind hier auch nicht zu finden. Zum Glück habe wir im Büro amtsbedingt alle Steyr betreffenden Denkmalschutzbescheide aufliegen, das ist natürlich die Quelle schlechthin, aber diese Bescheide dürfen seitens des Bundesdenkmalamtes nicht an Privatpersonen weitergegeben werden, damit man die Beschreibungen z.B. in den anderen Bezirken fertigstellen könnte. Was Positives zum Schluss, habe heute Pfarrkirchen bei Bad Hall fertiggemacht. Da ich nicht wußte welcher der Bildstöcke nun unter Denkmalschutz steht hab ich beim BDA nachgefragt und heute die Antwort bekommen. Also der Bildstock steht definitiv unter Denkmalschutz (war auch ein Bild dabei), ob die anderen auch denkmalgeschützt sind, hab ich hingegen aus der übermittelten Unterlage nicht herauslesen können. Ich wünsch dir zu Weihnachten und fürs nächste Jahr jedenfalls viele Sonnentage, geladene Akkus, ausreichend Speicherplatz und viele schöne Objekte zum Entdecken. Hallo Thomas, bitte lege die Kategorien die Du einfügst, auch an! Ich habe es ein paarmal für Dich erledigt, möchte aber nicht ständig hinterherräumen. Klick einfach auf die rote Kategorie und kopiere dann folgendes in die weiße Box:

[[Category:Cultural heritage monuments in Steyr]]

Hallo Thomas, selbstverständlich darfst du nachfragen. Übrigens, noch eine Kleinigkeit: Bilder sollten möglichst präzise eingeordnet werden und nicht gleichzeitig in Über- und Unterkategorien. PS: Ich sehe, du legst bereits Kategorien an, dazu ein Hinweis: Buildings in Steyr ist natürlich für Gebäude bestimmt (etwa das in der Überschrift verlinkte). Hallo Bodory Thomas, gespannt verfolge ich deine Aktivitäten, die sich mir im Kontext dieser Kategorie nicht so ganz erschließen. Klingt eher nach Buchtitel als nach einem griffigen Namen für eine Commonskategorie. Buch habe ich keines gefunden, auch das patriarchale an der Industrieanlage lässt sich so nicht googlen. Ja der Titel ist echt furchtbar und so schrecklich spröde, aber er stammt nicht von mir, ehrlich. Die Objekte die heuer in Steyr unter Denkmalschutz gestellt wurden sind Teil der Denkmalanlage "Steyr,Die patriarchale Industriedenkmalanlage von Josef Werndl und der Österreichischen Waffenfabriksgesellschaft 1870 bis 1920/21" Die Objekte wurden so in einem einzigen Verfahren (ähnlich einer Ensembleunterschutzstellung) verfahrenstechnisch abgewickelt. Grundsätzlich möchte ich eben alle Objekte (insgesamt an die 80) mit Foto und Text erfassen und dann noch gesondert etwas zur patriarchalen Industriedenkmalanlagen von Josef Werndl und der Österreichischen Waffenfabriksgesellschaft 1870 bis 1920/21 machen. Das braucht aber doch etwas Zeit da ich erst den Text des Amtssachverständigen-Gutachtens abschreiben muss (50 Seiten) und dann brauchbare Texte basteln muss. Im Gutachten wird eben schlüssig das besondere dieser patriarchalen Industrieanlage erläutert. Alles Liebe, Thomas--Bodory Thomas (Diskussion)

Steyr sollte jedenfalls vorne stehen ob mit Punkt oder Beistrich. Mit dem Bezugspunkt Steyr kann man die Anlage zumindest räumlich einordnen.
