"Hi, I would like to know if you shot this photo during an ice storm, in order to categorize it correctly.

Thanks in advance--Carnby 21:00, 29 May 2007 (UTC)"

Hey Sorry for the delay in responding. No it was not taken during an ice storm. RickO5 05:10, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
The ice was a result of water from melted snow landing on the bush and then refreezing. RickO5 (talk) 17:47, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Map od MoraviaEdit

Your map is bad. I'm from Moravia. Moravian enclaves in Silesia were also parts of Moravia. There were moravian laws in force and organs of Silesia had only administrative competences there. Map must show real state and not uncorrect. --Kirk (talk) 01:29, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

I see, that yoou don't know nothing about Moravian enclaves in Silesia. So on this site are usefull informations for you: "OSOBLAHA (Hotzenplotz), a town and moravian enclave in Silesia, on the osoblaha river and on the railway Tremesna - Osoblaha, in political district of Krnov (Jaegerndorf). 353 Houses, 2803 German inh., as township 410 Houses and 3395 German inh. (1890). Circuit Court, Comissariat of the Fiscal Patrol, Customs Office, postoffice, Telegraph, a wonderful deacon's church of St. Mary Magdalena, a church of St. Niclaus at the graveyard, 5 grade primary school and 3 grade town's school Bürgerschule - for children between 11-14), School for Girls and Boys (?), Hospital, Drugstore (Apotheke), Saving Bank (Sparrkasse), Sugar Mill, Matches Works,Hossiery Mill, Production of candles, soap, alcohols, 5 grain mills and Yearly markets. In the region production of lace works and cottonware.

The region of Osoblaha belonged to Moravia (Duchy of Opava, Fürstentum von Troppau) even in the oldest times, as a proprietory of the Diecesis of Olomouc. When the Opavian Duchy was removed from Moravia and became a part of Silesia, the bishop's estates stayed with Moravia and were recorded in the Moravian Land Registers ( Land und Hof Tafel von Mähren). They formed a part of the Province of Olomouc or Prerov. (Olmützer oder Prerauer Kreis). In 1850 all Moravian enclaves in Silesia were subordinated in administration and jurisdiction to Opava, the capital of the Austrian Silesia. On the other side, the taxes and duties are turned over to Moravia and the inhabitants of the enclaves vote one representative to the Moravian Council (Parliament)." --Kirk (talk) 01:41, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

Map must be exact. These territories never were parts of Silesia. They are speciality of Moravia, so it is useful to designate them by different colour. Silesia ceased to exist as administrative unit on same day (December 1st 1928) as these "enclaves". It's huge simplificantion to say, that these "enclaves" are now parts of Silesia. We can use the explanatory notes, so anybody could understand what map displays. --Kirk (talk) 12:13, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

Map of Czech Silesia is now accurate. It displays all territories governed by Silesian authorities, but Moravian enclaves are specially indicated. --Kirk (talk) 15:58, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

Sunshine map of ItalyEdit

Hi, to re-draw the map of sunshine in Italy, I have taken sources in the official italian weather website. I have put them in the italian wiki (we have just to multiply by 30 the daily average of each month).

http://clima.meteoam.it/viewClino.php?type=File&station=080&name_station=Milano%20Linate

http://clima.meteoam.it/viewClino.php?type=File&station=059&name_station=Torino%20Torino%20Caselle

http://clima.meteoam.it/viewClino.php?type=File&station=045&name_station=Udine%20Rivolto

Thus, those data are confirmed by the French official website (2000 hours for Turin, 1900 for Milan, 2000 for Venice). For Verona, I have only one data, weatheronline (about 2150 hours).

About the climatic map of Italy, it is sourced too by the Köppen-Geiger climate classification :

http://www.city-data.com/forum/attachments/weather/56180d1263187925-ultimate-climate-poll-koppen-climate-classification-kottek_et_al_2006.gif

Cheers.--XL3 (talk) 15:39, 4 December 2010 (UTC)

Hi. Yes, you're right, I was hurry and I did not check well your source (I thought that your map was a self-made one).
In a technical POV, things are more complicated. According to Meteoam, the map is right about the Apennines (though Penna seems to have extrapolated the result of 2 stations - Monte Cimone and Monte Terminillo). Even as an academic source, Penna has mistaken for some stations : Udine is about 1900 while he put it above 2000, he put Milan below 1800 while it is above 1900. Maybe a problem of rounded daily value or chosen series.
For SW Po plain, Meteoam does not show any station for sunshine duration. So, I don't know how he can put a 2000 hours line so low in the Po plain until the highlands of Côte d'Azur or Southern Alps, where the sunshine duration is about 2500 (see data of Nice or Embrun). I have never read anywhere that the highlands of Provence should be especially cloudy. And as I know, Piacenza not far is more than 2000.
Outside Italy, Penna has mistaken about Europe (especially Sweden, Poland, Germany, Austria and France), though I realize that it is a simplified map.
Nevertheless, like you have said, your source is homogenous, so, no need to edit it. I will change my map for the Apennines, but not for northern Italy because of the reasons above.
About the climate classification, I agree with you about the controversial isotherm 0°C for the continental zones (it is a personnal choice of the scientific team). But it changes few things for Italy and the map that I have presented (though I've forgotten the Csb zones). Cheers--XL3 (talk) 15:52, 6 December 2010 (UTC)

Sajoch confonde Val Rendena e Giudicarie!!--Patavium (talk) 21:59, 2 December 2012 (UTC)

--Angelus(talk) 00:12, 6 February 2013 (UTC)

Hi, I don't think "upcoming versions" need their own colour, because they're either a country's own version or a joint version, and can just be dark or light blue. It will mean less changing of the image when series begin, and I doubt it'll be changed when new ones start, so do you think it should just be the two shades of blue? Thanks for updating though, I know it was out of date. I've also left the same message at English Wikipedia. AnemoneProjectors (talk) 22:18, 29 September 2013 (UTC)

Thanks for your reply. I just think we don't need the green colour at all - as long as we know a series is definitely going to happen, the country should be blue. That means we only have to update the image when a new country announces their version. AnemoneProjectors (talk) (Flickr) 11:34, 30 September 2013 (UTC)
I would suggest putting Portugal, Slovakia, Turkey, Israel, Japan and Vietnam in dark blue, and Serbia, Bosnia, Montenegro and Macedonia in light blue. Though I think the Japanese version is only for one region of Japan, so should just that region be in colour? AnemoneProjectors (talk) (Flickr) 08:17, 1 October 2013 (UTC)
It looks good to me. Thank you for this. AnemoneProjectors (talk) (Flickr) 12:05, 1 October 2013 (UTC)

Hallo, Carnby. Still on the subject of your update of this file, you should update the line lyon turin, as the French side the construction of the main tunnels began in 2007, while the Italian side of the tunnel construction began on the basis of the Magdalene in June 2011. The file version you uploaded was considerably lower resolution than the previous versions... AnonMoos (talk) 19:45, 17 May 2014 (UTC)

File:Beer Consumption by Country.svgEdit

Hi, Carnby! Beer consumption per capita in Uruguay is 106.7 million litres ref. With a population of 3.3 million, the average is 32 litres per capita. That is the lightest blue in the scale. Damn, and I thought we drank a lot... Can you update the image? Thanks! --NaBUru38 (talk) 12:52, 3 July 2014 (UTC)

File:Flag of the Communist United States.svgEdit

Could be considered a little lame, since a white hammer-and-sickle on blue isn't very communist in terms of color symbolism. Compare these... --- AnonMoos (talk) 09:05, 30 July 2014 (UTC)

The more complex the design, the more indeterminate it's going to look after you fit 50 of them into a canton. Perhaps you should just use 13, as the U.S. government does with its small boat flag or yacht flag... AnonMoos (talk) 14:49, 30 July 2014 (UTC)

SignaturesEdit

Hi Carnby. I noticed your excellent signature tracing work on File:Gharibashvili signature.svg. I was wondering if you would consider also having a go at these as yet untraced signatures: [8], [9], and [10]? They're for the first Prime Minister of Somalia Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke, President of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, and Somalia Ambassador to the U.S. Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke, respectively. Best regards, Middayexpress (talk) 19:46, 12 August 2014 (UTC)

Thanks; that would be much appreciated. Best, Middayexpress (talk) 15:09, 16 August 2014 (UTC)
Many thanks! The signatures are perfect. Please let me know if you need help with anything. Best, Middayexpress (talk) 16:24, 20 August 2014 (UTC)

HiEdit

Hi Carnby,

Please see this. Jaqeli 19:45, 14 October 2014 (UTC)

AsomtavruliEdit

Hi Carnby, is Asomtavruli already done or there are some problems? Jaqeli 10:18, 16 October 2014 (UTC)

SVG signaturesEdit

Thanks for Alexander's coloured pic. Carnby, can you please SVG-ize 2 more signatures? this and this. The 1st is for Solomon II of Imereti and the 2nd one for Nikoloz Baratashvili. Jaqeli 16:06, 28 October 2014 (UTC)

BaratashviliEdit

Carnby, can you somehow restore and give some normal background to this pic? Jaqeli 20:41, 28 October 2014 (UTC)

It's author is literally unknown as such. Many of the 18-19th century Georgian poets' pictures are just like that. Jaqeli 20:11, 29 October 2014 (UTC)
Thanks Carnby again. May I ask you if you will have some time to create as you've did with Mkhedruli and Asomtavruli also create Nuskhuri letters with arrows? :) Jaqeli 21:05, 29 October 2014 (UTC)
Many thanks Carnby. Here is the pic for Nuskhuri arrows. Jaqeli 22:18, 29 October 2014 (UTC)

AnaEdit

Carnby, can you please SVG-ze this signature of Ana Bagration-Gruzinsky? Jaqeli 14:54, 1 November 2014 (UTC)

Many thanks. It's great. Jaqeli 11:47, 2 November 2014 (UTC)

-- Basilicofresco (msg) 10:29, 11 November 2014 (UTC)
