Sabah Barnstar

Hi, there Uwe Aranas. We bumped in Wikipedia earlier, however got off to a rough start earlier if you remembered. It was regarding one picture that I mistakenly assumed rights had been released. I had been too eager to clarify misinformation regarding the en: North Borneo Dispute during the heat of the Sulu invasion that I overlooked to check the copyright status. Again much apologies for that. Well, I dropped by to give you a Sabah Barnstar for your good work in capturing many amazing quality pictures across Sabah. And as a local resident of Sipitang, I see many pictures of my old primary school, old church and the town. Thanks a lot for that, brings back nostalgia :). Much deserved Barnstar for you! Ach, ich dachte, da ich derzeit ja nicht aktiv bin, sollte ich auch nicht in der "Hall of Fame" aufgeführt sein. Danke für die schnelle Antwort. Bei mir dauert es derzeit ein wenig, weil wir von den Stromausfällen infolge des Kincade Fire betroffen sind. – Also, ich fände es schön, wenn man auch bei Inaktivität weiter aufgeführt würde. Ansonsten müssten wir Goethe ja auch aus unserer Liste bedeutender Literaten streichen ;-) Mir haben deine Fotos jedenfalls immer viel Freude bereitet und ich fände es klasse, wenn Du die Kamera ab und an mal wieder in die Hand nehmen würdest. It’s great that you separate things required by the license from things that are not required but highly appreciated. Not enough users do this.

But there are some issues with this notice:

• The image is credited … in close relation to the image. I have seen another user warned that adding this requirement is not permitted by CC licenses.
• You are required to release the image under the same license. That is not strictly true. CC BY-SA 2.0 and later allow re-licensing under later versions of CC BY-SA. CC BY-SA 3.0 and later also allow re-licensing under licenses designated as compatible by Creative Commons.
• It is not permitted to upload this file to their social media platforms such as Facebook or Instagram. There is a consensus to reject such notices. See, for example, Commons:Deletion requests/Template:No Facebook. Note that the WMF advice you link to at User:Cccefalon/fb has been extensively rewritten since then.
