stakeEdit

Bonjour,

Croquant (talk) 05:51, 2 February 2012 (UTC)

licensing questionEdit

Hi, I uploaded an image today http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:North_2010_film_poster.jpg that is my work. I own it. It is entirely mine and I am happy to share it. While uploading the image via the upload wizard I used the Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 license. Can you please tell me if I need to release my work as CC0 Public Domain Dedication? In the meta data of the image I published my work with a free license as public domain. I simply used Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 because I gathered that is what Wiki commons prefers. I am new to Wikimedia Commons and would like to contribute more. I want to make sure I am following the correct protocol. Thank you.(Cosmiques (talk) 22:22, 5 February 2012 (UTC))

Cdlt, VIGNERON (talk) 07:45, 31 January 2013 (UTC)

http://www.rouillac.com/da-FR-8-186-68055-grid-4-2011-objets_de_vitrine_et_de_collections_97

Cordialement, --Jimmy44 (talk) 11:40, 4 February 2013 (UTC)

A+ Celbusro (talk) 20:38, 22 February 2013 (UTC)

Bonsoir Celbusro,
--Dereckson (talk) 21:41, 24 February 2013 (UTC)

SaltireEdit

But if you follow the link that you just gave me , you get this page which clearly shows saltires. (http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Blason_ville_fr_Ch%C3%A2tillon-d%27Azergues_%28Rh%C3%B4ne%29.svg) The blazon of those three shields (in French) is wrong. A saltire is an X, whereas a cross is a +. What we are seeing is +, not X. Therefore the category is also wrong. The French blazon needs to be changed. I cannot do it. I do not have the French, unfortunately. Regards. Kiltpin (talk) 19:29, 23 March 2013 (UTC)

Hello Chatsam and Tretinville, Sorry for the delay. I have been consulting with colleagues in the Heraldry Society and the Heraldry Society of Scotland. It seems that there are two standards - the French and the English/Scottish. While you both are quite right in saying that a saltire is a saltire, over here we put more emphasis on the visual aspects - what we see is what we blazon. That is to say that the cross and the saltire are exceptions to the rule. One of the reasons is that although charges are oriented in line with the bend automatically, we do not do so with the bend sinister or the saltire. On both of those the orientation of the charge must be specified.
I was not aware that there were two different standards and for bringing it to my attention, I thank you. As you are no doubt aware, Chatsam, I am blazoning, in English, the shields you have created. I think you were quite right to re-instate the category:saltire. For my part, when it comes to blazoning these arms, I will blazon to the French standard, but put in a note about the English standard.
Tretville - your English is very good. Far superior to my French! Regards to you both. Kiltpin (talk) 11:29, 25 March 2013 (UTC)

Blason Raoul de TréalEdit

Bonjour,

Cdlt, VIGNERON (talk) 15:23, 9 May 2013 (UTC)

Merci beaucoup !

Bonjour.

Bonne participation, Trizek from FR 17:45, 22 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi Chatsam. Err, can I ask why did you put the speedy deletion on the recent file I uploaded? It is my own Candy Crush game that I played. So it is not a copyright violation. Jianhui67 Talk 10:54, 4 October 2013 (UTC)

File Partita impegnativa.jpg and others about William Girometti paintingsEdit

Hi, I am sorry not to have written before, as you marked the images on November 16th: this is the first time I upload images in Wikimedia as I suppose you know. All the images about "William Girometti" reproduce painting of my father, who died 15 years ago. Since I am his only heir, now that my mother died too, I have the ownership of all the paintings whose pictures I uploaded. My father's name can be found in books about Italian painters and since I wish people could enjoy his paintings, I thought I could try to create a page on Wikipedia about him. For this reason I uploaded the images, but probably choosing the wrong licence. I wrote to permission-commons@wikimedia.org and hope that the images will be restored. Is there any other thing I could do for this purpose? Thank you very much and best regards, Silvia Girometti

Bonjour Chantsam. Do you mean the artist of the depicted artwork? The Netherlands has Freedom of Panorama, see Commons:FOP#Netherlands. Also the copyvio tag is only applicable if the file itself has been copied from somewhere. If you think a picture infringes the copyright of the depicted work, please start a regular deletion nomination instead, using 'nominate for deletion' from the menu. Picture of the Year 2013 R1 AnnouncementEdit

Round 1 of Picture of the Year 2013 is open!Edit

2012 Picture of the Year: A pair of European Bee-eaters in Ariège, France.

Dear Wikimedians,

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2013 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the eighth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2013) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and the most popular image in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just one image to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 1 will end on . Click here to learn more and vote »

Thanks,

Blason de Montalieu-VercieuEdit

Salut,

J'ai quatre petites questions/requêtes à propos de blasons :

  • d'abord une incohérence entre le blasonnement et le blason de Montalieu-Vercieu (File:Blason ville fr Montalieu-Vercieu 38.svg) : il est écrit « une tierce d’azur » mais dessiné « une tierce ondée d’azur » ;

GerberoyEdit

Hi Chatsam, you have tagged File:Gerberoy-1373718c.gif and File:Gerberoy-jph1373718.gif for deletion due to being duplicates of File:Gerberoy-rue-du-chateau.jpg. However, I wonder who is the true author here. The first 2 files were uploaded by Conquerant (talk · contribs) in 2007, using the self-license template, but stating "Jean-Pierre His" as the author. The latter image has been uploaded in 2010 by Re probst (talk · contribs), who again used the self-license template and mentioned "Jean-Pierre His" as the author. On the other hand, I didn't find any evidence that either of the uploaders is "Jean-Pierre His" or that both uploader belong to the same person. Any idea? --Túrelio (talk) 08:08, 4 June 2014 (UTC)
