Deine Kommentare auf QICEdit

Hallo Hubertl!

Was meinst du?
--Tuxyso (talk) 09:03, 21 May 2015 (UTC)
--Hubertl (talk) 09:33, 21 May 2015 (UTC)
Ich hätte in diesem Fall z.B. einfach fragen können: Where do you see unsharp areas? --Tuxyso (talk) 05:49, 22 May 2015 (UTC)

Question for youEdit

Do you have much experience shooting reflective surfaces? I shot this ring, and it turned out okay... but before I nominate anything like this at QIC I was hoping to avoid having the light tent (and lights, if possible) reflected. How could I get rid of such reflections? I tried a polarizing filter, but that didn't do anything to the reflections on the ring itself. If I'm able to nix the unwanted reflections, I can do a focus stack and pull out a really nice piece of work. — Chris Woodrich (talk) 13:45, 21 May 2015 (UTC)

In this case, I would try to use an additional diffusor between the lamp and the tent. Eventually two. And then, longer exposures, because you will miss a lot of light. Usually, Softboxes have two diffusors. Or, maybe, a second tent, bigger than the other, so you can stack it into each other. --Hubertl (talk) 14:39, 21 May 2015 (UTC)
  • The current light tent's pretty darn big (80cm x3), so I'd probably get a smaller one. Sounds like a good idea. Thanks! — Chris Woodrich (talk) 14:46, 21 May 2015 (UTC)
In this case, a 60x60 cm would work, I think. But even with big softboxes, even with four, you will always have a reflection on this kind of surfaces.--Hubertl (talk) 14:56, 21 May 2015 (UTC)
  • Right... I'll try and manage it, see if I can minimize reflections. Might take some experimenting, but it's a good skill to have. — Chris Woodrich (talk) 15:31, 21 May 2015 (UTC)
