Hello, Jyothis!

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

File:EHemingway.JPG edit

File:EHemingway.JPG has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this file, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue. Please see Commons:But it's my own work! for a guide on how to address these issues.

Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

Balance of attack edit

As you pointed on Turelio's talk page to write on your talk page...I don't want to skip into a long argument again and just packing up with all the things in commons or in Ml.Wiki...you can back-up your justifications of catching my uploads in any way as you are a OTRS volunteer. Please check for the same quality images in the web before starts questioning the photographer. ( May be you have a doubt on my sock puppet history) If i uploaded that photos in a different user name , no body can question me as long as the high quality image is not available on web, But i didn't do that and tried to be with the policies and called the photographer to send an email to the permission team and i don't want to disturb him every time for such thing. You are telling that by considering the fame of subject what fame you mean, film stars are not someone who will not appear in front of a camera, if you are behind famous peoples you can have 1 year job with commons pictures..and if you are behind Malayalam film star there is also many low-res uploads to catch..Please don't do an attack on my images for the coming 3-4 days, As i will approach the commons admins to delete it.

You are an experienced user in Wikipedia and grown to a level of steward for a project, but i am not like that and i don't have so much powers to start an attack on you either by catching on your uploads or pointing out your contributions or something, As far as i understand all the admins in Ml.wiki is chained together to start some blames on my edits/uploads..Did you ever hear in en.wiki or commons that a user will be blocked for 3 days for removing contents from his own talk pages...never...Moreover in En.wiki there are bots to do the job of archiving and releasing the old talk pages in Ml.Wiki there is no bot deployed for doing that job and my browser keep on crashing for the heavy page editing, and I didn't found another way to make it stable rather than deleting it, In-fact i have no idea for this archiving a user talk page in Ml.wiki, i am keeping all the old talk in a file called ml:ഉപയോക്താവിന്റെ_സംവാദം:Binukalarickan/A1 but no idea how to make an archive box and giving numbers to it.
When i have gone through the blocking history of En.wiki i didn't found a person blocked for deleting his own talk pages (Hiding to history). Ml. wiki admins saying that En.Wikipedia policies are not applicable in Ml.wiki and the irony is that many of Ml.wiki's policies are linked with En.wiki policies in a perfect translation or 90% match..
I dont want to start a fight with you for doing some edits or uploads in Wikipedia, I have started editing by giving copyvio images to commons on my user account and on a sock puppet, with the warnings and all i understand the details of wikipedia as it is a 100% free community. Be assured I am not going to edit in any Wikipedia as i already blocked, why i am wasting my time to contribute something to wiki, where i am getting only bitter experiences..So story ended and packing up, If you can help, kindly delete my sub-userpages in ml.wiki and change this bock to an indef one..or leave it i will request the deletion..and one more thing to say to the steward that, I found Sreejith, Shiju Alex, Vssun as helpfull to the project..and all other admins (known) are looking a user with bad eyes..All my other ml.wiki user accounts left as it is..

Thank You

Binu,

I am not sure why you are taking everything in a negative sense. An insufficient permission on OTRS ticket is an insufficient permission and I had emailed your source who sent in the permission about the alternate methods of permission/proving that he is the copyright owner even before I spoke to you - check with your source if you doubt that please. It is really futile to waste both our time to make this an emotional ordeal and lets try to resolve the licensing issues. As I mentioned, I dont doubt the quality or the ability of the photographer here. We just have to get the license rightly permissioned. You mentioned about 'catching' your upload. infact what we really caught here was not your uploads, but an otrs ticket that was marked as verified while it should have had more verifiable info in it. Instead of getting anything deleted, Help your source to get the permission out in a way that we could accept it.

About mlwiki issues. please note that I didnt bring it up anywhere here and you yourself did that and the only mistake that I did was that I tried to reason with you and tell you about local practices. Unfortunately, you wrote back in a ridiculing tone. mlwiki is not en wiki and it has its own written or unwritten policies and practices. You cannot say that the project cant have its own practices. All I was trying to do is to follow up on an OTRS ticket that had insufficient permission. Kindly stay cool and work with us. as I wrote in your mlwiki page, being kind and nice to others can only make you a better person on and off wiki. Thank you --Jyothis (talk) 13:29, 9 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

As i explained earlier, please leave those images as a deletion request is on its way, and when i check with shaji he told that, he didnt email you with some wrong information, Infact he just forwarded the permission template i mailed to him, which has sufficient information for the OTRS authorization...if you are looking for something written in a agreement or on a govt. attested paper, you will not get it and i am not interested to do such heavy job for keeping the image in commons as free contribution...
You are saying there is unwritten practices in Ml.wiki, but i dont think it's good and i had tried to do so much contributions for making some policies, but due to the intervention of some admins i started fighting and all discussions got freezed..as a user i would like to advise you for writing those unwritten policies of Ml.wiki somewhere...where i believe policies are good for a community where peoples are there to follow it...(Talk on my page pasted here for continuation)--Kalarickan | My Interactions 14:23, 9 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Once again, I said insufficient in the sense of verifiability and not as WRONG information. There is a big difference between insufficient and wrong my friend. He did send the template that you sent him and we do have ways to get his permissions worked out. Please understand that we end up dealing with all sorts of people and that causes us to take anything with a pinch of salt. I am trying to work with you and Shaji to work it up and if you really want to help, please stop fighting and see how we can work it out together.

As for unwritten practices, we see that every where, dont you think? While you have a written down code of conduct and dress code at your work place, the way to use toilet or mess hall is not really written down. It is just like that. If you could be a bit more nice in your ways, things will be much smoother and easier for everybody. It will be hard to say that every single rule has to be written down before someone follows it. When the fellow users try to explain that we do it this way here, what is the point in claiming that since there is no written policy we wont follow it? Each project is different and ml wiki has taken many policies from en (just because that was the role model). That does not mean that ALL of enwiki policies should be followed there. Hope you understand. --Jyothis (talk) 16:23, 9 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Regarding the images waiting for OTRS...If the permission not meeting the requirements of Wikipedia please remove those images, already it was deleted from commons but because of Shaji's mail it came back. I tried contacting shaji but he was not available, and got information that shoot is going on in some remote village...
I dont have a workplace to find out these rules...anyway you can include the policies in En.wiki which is available and similar to Ml.wiki policies...Ml.wiki community is forcing a user to follow the footsteps of old users by finding their path..and it is quite difficult for others to understand and all are confused that policies of En.wiki is applicable there...You can make a banner on the main policy description of Ml.wiki that En.Wikipedia policies are not applicable here (If the policies are not available in Ml.wkipedia)...other users are telling the things which is againist the written policies and based on there interest on the project, which i didnt accepted as I believe that everybody is there to follow those policies...discussions are getting longer..time to end up..Thank you..Kalarickan | My Interactions 19:45, 9 November 2010 (UTC)Reply
