Our first steps tour and our frequently asked questions will help you a lot after registration. They explain how to customize the interface (for example the language), how to upload files and our basic licensing policy (Wikimedia Commons only accepts free content).

You don't need technical skills in order to contribute here. Be bold when contributing and assume good faith when interacting with others. This is a wiki.

Getting help

More information is available at the community portal. You may ask questions at the help desk, village pump or on IRC channel #wikimedia-commons (webchat). You can also contact an administrator on their talk page. If you have a specific copyright question, ask at the copyright village pump.

Goodies, tips, and tricks

Put Babel boxes on your user page so others know what languages you can speak and indicate your graphic abilities.
You can find the files you have uploaded in your Uploads.
Please sign your name on Talk pages by typing ~~~~.
To link to an image page without embedding the image, type: [[:File:Foo.jpg]], which produces: File:Foo.jpg.
You may enable gadgets (custom features) for your account.
There are several tools to upload files.
Have you edited Wikipedia before? This guide might be useful.

Made a mistake?

Do you want to have a file renamed or moved? Use the move link and wait for an authorized user to rename it.
Do you want to have your recently uploaded picture removed? Tag it as {{speedy|reason here}}. For more information read the deletion guidelines.

Your deletion noms for footballer photos edit

Hi, in the footballer photos you've nominated for deletion, I noticed that almost all the licenses were done by bots, and so I think they are all valid. Sometimes, Flickr users change the CC license to be more restrictive, but as you can read here, "Creative Commons licenses are non-revocable. This means that you cannot stop someone, who has obtained your work under a Creative Commons license, from using the work according to that license. ".

Also, when you're nominating multiple pictures from the same source with the same issues, as you did with the ManU photos, it probably would have been better to do a Commons:Deletion requests/Mass deletion request. Cheers. --Ytoyoda (talk) 16:47, 17 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Would you please stop reverting well-formed problem tags to replace them with copyvio tags? When a file is tagged, it is taken care of already. We already know that it is non-free, we just leave a chance for the uploader to communicate the permission he might have got. Файл Ананко и прочих снят лично мной. Че вы там вдруг собрались его удалять не пойму. на общем форуме википедии, как раз сейчас разбираем групповой снимок-кто есть кто. Когда кого-то выясняем- я его выдергиваю из группового портрета, если крупнее нет ( у меня аккумулятор сел быстро_. Обсуждение ВОТ . Спасибо что отняли у меня время и сбили с мысли во время писания статьи. Объясню еще кое-что, конкретно для вас: если владельцем авторских прав является человек его загрузивший, он может вообще не указывать источник. А может указать. Причем может указать что угодно, что взбредёт в его светлую голову - ибо не принципиально. Фото Цисельского М.П edit

Добрый день! А у Вас есть какое-нибудь разрешение на использование фотографий из семейного альбома Цисельского М. П.? --Laim 13:11, 14 февраля 2012 (UTC)

Эта тема уже обсуждалась в Wikimedia:Commons, когда выложенные мной фотографии выставлялись на удаление, и мне удалось убедить в том, что я это делаю на законных основаниях. Предложение об удалении файлов было снято. На всякий случай еще раз напомню, что я являюсь владельцем всех семейных фотографий Цисельского М.П. на правах законного наследника. Я бы выложил эти файлы в русской Википедии, но они используются также в статье в украинской и английской Википедии. Поэтому убедительная просьба снять с файла пометку об удалении. Заранее благодарю. The developer team at Wikimedia is making some changes to how accounts work, as part of our on-going efforts to provide new and better tools for our users like cross-wiki notifications. These changes will mean you have the same account name everywhere. This will let us give you new features that will help you edit and discuss better, and allow more flexible user permissions for tools. One of the side-effects of this is that user accounts will now have to be unique across all 900 Wikimedia wikis. See the announcement for more information.

Unfortunately, your account clashes with another account also called Laim. To make sure that both of you can use all Wikimedia projects in future, we have reserved the name Laim~commonswiki that only you will have. If you like it, you don't have to do anything. If you do not like it, you can pick out a different name.

Your account will still work as before, and you will be credited for all your edits made so far, but you will have to use the new account name when you log in.
