for some inexplicable reason, in the hebrew translation, the "engine_names" happen to be in Greek, which is, as they say, Greek to me.

Copyright

I'm new and so I must apologise about the copyrighted images. I'm confused as the images I've used are from Flickr, and the individual has given consent for the image to be used by others as long as he's mentioned which I have done. So can you give me some help and info and why what I have done is a "copyright violation"? And the image: " File:Police Scotland Mounted Branch in Tayside.jpg," I would like deleted. I got the location mixed up (Dundee and not Tayside), and tried to reupload but wouldn't let me and I don't know how to delete the image myself. I went over files marked as copyright violations and you gave links that name the actual photographers and agencies, and are not some blog post, which made it easy. Often, one has to do a whole other search to clarify whether an image is indeed a copyvio or not. Best regards Hekerui (talk) 09:09, 16 May 2014 (UTC)

Yes, I try to give good source links that do credit the photo to someone since I know myself how much work actual deletion can be if one takes the trouble to actually follow the given links and is trying to figure out whether the report is valid. Not always possible, though, so sometimes I have to settle for a blog post, too. Blog posts are good, too, if they pre-date the upload here; that at least shows that the image was available elsewhere before the upload. Basically, if something is available on the Internet anywhere shortly after the upload, my first assumption is copyvio. Sometimes, if user names indicate some affiliation with the source found, I go for "no permission" instead. Lupo 09:17, 16 May 2014 (UTC)

I never looked when I cropped it but after receiving your notice I looked in more depth - it does seem the link you gave was uploaded by the same user? If possible I would ask if you would consider removing the template from my talk page as I had acted in good faith and literally just cropped an image that was already on Commons, uploaded by someone I have no knowledge of whatsoever, so I don't feel it's justified for me to be branded as guilty of copyright violation. Anliegen ist die Löschung von Dateien deren Urheberrecht im Ursprungsland noch nicht abgelaufen ist und die - obgleich in einem Massenupload enthalten - auf Commons nicht hätten hochgeladen werden sollen. Missing messages at Translatewiki?

There are some system messages at Commons in English that I would like to translate into Croatian, but I can't find them at Translatewiki. For example, tabs "global usage", "find categories", "move", then "request rotation" and "ZoomViewer: flash/no flash". These probably come from gadgets. You'd have to look in the respective gadgets how they can be localized. For instance, MediaWiki:Gadget-ZoomViewer.js doesn't look like it could be localized out of the box, the strings are hardcoded. You'll have to prod the people who wrote these gadgets. Lupo, you recently deleted this file, as per my suggestion. The uploader, Eliška Fortinová, also has a pretty long history of violating copyright policy, and has already been blocked (briefly) once... Hi. Are Creative Commons images with the Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.0 Generic license allowed to be used on Wiki?

@Tbone556: : No. Only CC-0, CC-BY and CC-BY-SA, all versions. NC or ND are not free enough for the Commons. BTW, please upload crops as separate files under a new name. We don't overwrite files with different ones, unless the modification is really minor. Your crops are pretty heavy. Maybe even good, but still drastic changes from the original. So just upload under a new name (and then change the image link in the article). Lupo 16:24, 12 August 2014 (UTC)

@ArchGabriel33: Hi. The file was deleted because it appeared to be a copyright violation. It was already published at http://www.klausjohannis.ro/ and that site does not specify any free license for that image but instead clearly says "© 2008-2012, Klaus Iohannis, All Rights Reserved".

If you are the owner of the copyrights on that image, follow the process explained at COM:OTRS and send a formal release for the picture. The release should come from a verifiable e-mail address. Alternatively, contact Mr. Iohannis and make him include a statement on his page that this image was licensed freely, for instance as {{Cc-by-sa-4.0}}. Lupo 07:53, 13 August 2014 (UTC)

@Lupo: That image is all over the internet. It also appears on Facebook and o large number of public newspapers. Please take a look. And the copyright "© 2008-2012, Klaus Iohannis, All Rights Reserved" is for the webpage, not for the image, that's why the image is public.

It doesn't matter that it was copied to numerous other websites. Unless there is a clear and reliable indication (by the copyright owner) of a free license, it's not freely licensed and must not be uploaded here. Lupo 08:19, 13 August 2014 (UTC)

Thank you! I try... but it's not over yet. There's still some patches that should be deployed and have some effect, and if not, I'll have to take them up on their promise to take it down until they have come up with a better idea to structure that process/workflow to get a better useful-uploads ratio.

I just hope they don't repeat the same mistakes with their plans for desktop uploading. That looks on first glance as if they wanted to make the upload wizard more mobile-like... which would be bad. (Also, I only see user stories/use cases about what they want to support. I see nothing about use cases they want to prevent. Neglecting those is the biggest problem with Mobile/Web uploads.) Flinfo kann keine Bilder mehr von der Mushroom Observer-Seite herunterladen

Hi Lupo, seit einiger Zeit kann ich mit Flinfo keine Bilder mehr von der Mushroom Observer-Seite herunterzuladen. Als Fehlermeldung erhalte ich nur: "Bild-ID kann nicht berechnet werden aus der Eingabe xyz". Das Herunterladen von Bildern von Flickr funktioniert nach wie vor. Daher gehe ich davon aus, dass es irgendwelche Umstellungen auf der Mushroom Observer-Seite gegeben hat. Ich hoffe sehr, dass du mir helfen kannst oder du mir zumindest sagen kannst, an wen ich mich mit meinem Problem wenden kann. Es wäre wirklich mehr als schade, wenn dieses tolle Tool nicht mehr betreut würde. (meine Anfrage auf der Kontaktseite des Tools blieb bisher unbeantwortet, da Benutzer Flominator sich wohl eine Auszeit genommen hat.(was ihm natürlich gegönnt sei!)) Request

Is possible to rename all files automatically in this category [1] without requesting a rename for all pictures individually? All pictures are taken and uploaded by me, but with wrong file names (e.g. Arboretum Vinica (xx).jpg should be Arboretum Opeka (xx).jpg).--MaGa 16:57, 22 October 2014 (UTC)

Uploadformular

Hallo Lupo,
User Rillke hat auf meine Frage, warum beim Hochladen mehrerer Bilder ab dem zweiten nur das einfache Formular angeboten wird, hier geantwortet "Der Code für das "bessere Hochladeformular" ist alt und klapprig. Damals von Lupo geschrieben, hat es über Jahre keine Updates mehr erfahren. Wir haben ja stattdessen den Wizard und mit dem werden ja schließlich 70 bis 90% aller Dateien hochgeladen."
Ich finde dennoch dein Formular besser. Könntest du es bitte wieder zum stabilen Funktionieren bringen?

Rillke hat schon recht. Dass da überhaupt noch etwas funktioniert grenzt an ein kleines Wunder.

Vielleicht habe ich tatsächlich über den Jahreswechsel ein wenig Zeit, 'mal danach zu schauen. Es wäre mir aber schon geholfen, wenn ich nicht raten müsste, was genau Du denn beobachtest. Kannst Du mir das bitte genau beschreiben, oder ein Video davon irgendwo hochladen? Z.B.: welche Version welchen Browsers verwendest Du, auf welchem Betriebssystem? Was genau machst Du, um nach erfolgtem erstem Upload erneut zum Formular zu kommen: gehst Du via die Browser-Historie zurück? Oder klickst Du erneut ein "Hochladen"-Link an? Öffnest Du das "zweite" Formular in einem neuen Tab? Siehst Du auf dem einfachen Formular wenigstens auch den "Vorschau"-Knopf? Wie genau lautet die URL in der Addresszeile, wenn Du beim zweiten Mal nur das einfache Formular siehst? Meldet Dein Browser irgendwelche Fehlermeldungen in seiner Fehlerkonsole, die so aussehen, als hätten sie etwas mit Javascript zu tun? Wenn ja, was ist der Inhalt dieser Fehlermeldungen?

Wenn ich zumindest weiss, was genau Du machst, kann ich versuchen, das hier bei mir zu reproduzieren. Wenn's dann bei mir auch auftritt, kann ich der Sache nachgehen. Andernfalls kann ich da leider nicht viel machen.

Ich verwende Firefox 34.0.5 unter Windows 7 professional und rufe für jedes Bild das Formular mit "Datei hochladen" in einem neuen Fenster auf. Der Fehler mit dem einfachen Formular tritt nach Umfrage bei einem Wikipedia-Stammtisch auch bei anderen Anwendern auf. Er kommt meist beim zweiten Bild, manchmal auch später. Wenn er auftritt wird dennoch angezeigt: https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Special:Upload&uselang=de. Das einfache Formular ist dann ohne Vorschauknopf. Manchmal hat es schon geklappt, dass ich ohne etwas im einfachen Formular auszufüllen auf Hochladen gedrückt habe, und das erweiterte Formular erschien, jetzt unter der Anzeige https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Special:Upload. Hi Lupo, pinging also HJ Mitchell and Steinsplitter. Re the fall-out from Commons:Deletion requests/Files uploaded by Indiaresists and the subsequent blocking of that editor, could you take a look at:

• A number of files which he had nominated for deletion prior to blocking [2]. Some may be valid, but at least one, Commons:Deletion requests/File:A 5.jpg doesn't appear to be.
• The contributions of User:Snickerty03 who is almost certainly a sock of Indiaresists (IAC sockfarm).
• Ditto this "new" editor.

Ok. Habe die Fotofreigaben der entsprechenden Fotografen Reinhard Kraasch von der Wikipedia-Permissionsabteilung geschickt.

"Vom TV" bleibt dann nur noch Ireen Sheer und diese Künstlerin habe ich im EMC Stollberg zur MDR live Silvesterparty selbst fotografiert. Ich habe dort mehrfach meine ADA Bilder ausgestellt. Siehe Picasa Benita Martin (link geht hier leider nicht- ist aber auf meiner hp) Und im Übrigen, wie ich schon an anderer Stelle in der Wikipedia formuliert habe, ich kann dieser Enzyklopädie nur anbieten. Was fairerweise übernommen und eingestellt wird, entscheiden die Wikipedianer selbst und nicht ich. Meine Bilder zeichnen sich in jedem Fall als selbst angefertigte, realitätsgetreue eigenständige Werke aus. Danke für die Bearbeitung Benita Martin (leider vom handy und ohne Signum Sorry)

Keine Ahnung wer Reinhard Kraasch ist; die korrekte E-mail-Adresse ist permissions-commons@wikimedia.org. Dass Ireen Sheer von einem selbstgemachten Foto abgezeichnet wurde, lässet sich ja einfach genug glaubhaft machen indem dieses Originalfoto inkl. Guten Morgen Lupo, als erstes möchte ich deutlich bemerken: Es ist für mich als Malerin überhaupt nicht unerheblich, ob ich die Person, die ich male, persönlich kenne, oder nicht. Besonders realitätsgetreuen Ausdruck bekomme ich in die Gesichter, in ihre Augen, erfasse ihre Aura, wenn ich die Menschen dazu selbst gesehen habe, vielleicht Kontakt hatte. Da fühle ich mich als Künstlerin von Dir frontal angegriffen. Nun ist es aber so, dass ich oft Aufträge bekomme, die Person "als Kind" zu zeichnen, oder Verstorbene, die dann mir nicht in diesem Alter bekannt sein KÖNNEN. Dann muss ich von Fotos "abmalen". Meine Vorgehensweise als Malerin ist die Folgende: 1. Ein Funke springt über. Bei Veranstaltungen, oder aus Sympathie überhaupt, oder eben als Auftrag. 2.Dann die Entscheidung, die Person zu malen. 3. Ich zeichne high life. Wenn Zeit ist und ich die Materialien dabei habe. 4. Oder ich mache mir ein handy Foto als Erinnerungsstütze. Wer sitzt in der heutigen Zeit noch stundenlang Modell? 5. Im Atelier dann nehme ich mein handy, vergrößere das Display und überlege den "touch": Ist die Person zart? Oder derb, grobschlächtig? Wild? Oder schlau? Danach wähle ich die Acrylfarben aus. Oder Kohle. Oder nur Bleistift- bei Babies. 5. Dann male ich. Die Fotos werden danach für mich uninteressant. Lupo. Ich frage Dich. Wer hat noch seine handyfotos von seinem handy von vor 3-10 Jahren??? Es tut mir leid, damit kann ich der Wikipedia nicht dienen.

Lupo, ich kann Die auch ein Foto 1:1 abzeichnen: Schwarz weiß, oder bunte, wie eine Kopie. Meine Bilder aber zeichnen sich durch abstrakte Striche aus, verwischt, oder mit Wasser weich auslaufend. Lege ein Bild von mir neben ein Foto. Es ist gänzlich anders. Und doch fängt es den Ausdruck ein. Fokussiert auf die Aura des Porträtierten.

Die Wikipedia als Enzyklopädie sieht das vielleicht anders, das verstehe ich. Und die Wikipedianer müssen nun entscheiden. Wollen sie zur Verbesserung ihrer Artikel gemalte Bilder? Ich wurde sogar von Wikipedianern gelobt für die Zeichnungen "im Sinne der Verbesserung der Enzyklopädie". Wenn ja. Von mir? Oder nicht. Stimmt doch einfach ab ... {{PD-Gutenberg}} alone is not enough to keep this here. This book is only PD in the U.S. In the source country (the UK) and in fact in the whole European Union and in other countries with a copyright term of 70 years p.m.a. (after the author's death), this is still copyrighted. The author of the map died in 1959, so this will enter the public domain in these countries on January 1, 2030. Yes, I think that's still needed. First, his works will become PD at some point in time. Second, it's a record of my tracking down some rather obscure photographers. I was looking for somebody else and found info about this and a few other photographers, so I created these pages. Makes it much easier to re-discover the info if it's ever needed again. I see no reason to remove such entries; if we do, then somebody else will have to redo the research in the future, and it won't get easier some decades from now. However, if these creator entries do have categories, these should probably be tagged with {{No uploads}} or, if we go by the statement on that template page, the categories should be deleted. Flinfo: Kein Import mehr von MushroomObserver.org möglich

Hallo Lupo, auf MushroomObserver.org wurden neben der Benutzeroberfläche auch Änderungen "unter der Haube" vorgenommen, sodass jetzt kein Import mehr mit Flinfo möglich ist. Flinfo: Umstellung im Dateinamen beim Import von Mushroom Observer möglich?

Hallo Lupo, wäre es möglich, dass bei künftigen Importen von MushroomObserver.org das Datum vom Anfang des Dateinamens ans Ende desselbigen positioniert wird? Dadurch werden die Pilzfotos in Kategorien automatisch nach dem wissenschaftlichen Namen sortiert. Würde mich freuen, wenn Du diese Anpassung vornehmen könntest. Oof. I'll have to check if I still have the e-mail exchange from back then (if there was one at all; don't remember off-hand) to see why in 2006 I did not question the identity of the en-WP user account. There must've been something that made it obvious to me that the en-WP user indeed was the artist. In later years I would've pointed the user to OTRS, but 2006 was well before we had OTRS I think. Hallo Lupo, du warst derjenige, der in der Datei "Arthur Augustus Zimmerman" das Geburtsdatum (und die Aktivzeit) des Fotografen Barenne hinzugefügt hat. Ich habe sorgfältig recherchiert und als Todeszeitpunkt 1913 (Anfang, spätest. Februar) herausgefunden, aber kein Geburtsjahr. Nur auf einer nicht sehr zuverlässigen Webseite gab es das Geburtsjahr auch, leider ebenfalls ohne Quelle. Es ist sicherlich schon eine Weile her. I am unable to use the quick delete buttons with Gallery Details while the actions above work fine, I was wondering if you had the time, to look over the script and see what needs to be fixed. MediaWiki:Gadget-AjaxQuickDelete.js (findCreator:) asks the API who the first user in the revision history is. However, this looks like a manual edit by Jeff G.. Perhaps just some confusion while multiple tabs were open? -- Rillke^(q?) 14:43, 14 July 2019 (UTC)

You created the page, although it didn't show up until very recently due to a bug detailed at Phab:T173070. Standard practice is to notify page creators when pages are nominated for any sort of deletion.
