RE: Massachusetts governor photos edit

You do whatever you think is necessary.

Every photo you named was from a source that wasn't copyrighted, like a reference work published by the state legislature, or was something too trivial to copyright, like a campaign photo.

I really dislike arguing with editors and other contributors. My experience has often been that no matter what follow up I provide, the back and forth doesn't end, because the initiator won't accept whatever additional research I offer. In addition, my experience is that that sometimes during this back and forth the editor or contributor I'm dealing with becomes increasingly aggressive and impolite. As a result, even though I'm confident that my work can withstand the scrutiny, I decline to make an argument. Billmckern (talk) 04:51, 13 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Or was something too trivial to copyright, like a campaign photo. That argument is wrong. --Martin H. (talk) 22:41, 21 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

Autopatrol given edit

Hello. I just wanted to let you know that I have granted autopatrol rights to your account; the reason for this is that I believe you are sufficiently trustworthy and experienced to have your contributions automatically marked as "reviewed". This has no effect on your editing, it is simply intended to make it easier for users that are monitoring Recent changes or Recent uploads to find unproductive edits amidst the productive ones like yours. In addition, the Flickr upload feature and an increased number of batch-uploads in UploadWizard, uploading of freely licensed MP3 files, overwriting files uploaded by others and an increased limit for page renames per minute are now available to you. Thank you. INeverCry 03:03, 30 November 2012 (UTC)Reply

File:The Graves Light.JPG edit

Why did you remove Category:National Register of Historic Places in Boston from this file?

The light is in Boston, reference the USGS topo quad which shows the Boston City Line going past it.

What am I missing here? .     Jim . . . . Jameslwoodward (talk to me) 11:59, 4 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

Aha. Now I see. We have a new category, Category:The Graves, which has the NRHP cat. Unfortunately, "The Graves" is the name of the rock, not the light, and it is not on the NRHP. I'll clean it up. .     Jim . . . . Jameslwoodward (talk to me) 12:07, 4 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
You figured it out. (It's a fine point, but I wouldn't be surprised if the NRHP nom actually covers the entire Graves Ledge.) Magic♪piano 13:19, 4 December 2012 (UTC)Reply
Nope. The site area is given as 0.1 acre, and at high water the ledge is an oval very roughly 200 x 300 feet -- something like an acre..     Jim . . . . Jameslwoodward (talk to me) 17:54, 4 December 2012 (UTC)Reply

File:175 Ocean Road, Narragansett RI.jpg edit

Thanks for noticing the actual building was burned down. What do you think, should I just remove File:175 Ocean Road, Narragansett RI.jpg from the w:Greene_Inn page since it's not the actual building? Faolin42 (talk)

Fort James Jackson edit

Why did you remove Category:National Historic Landmarks in Georgia (U.S. state) from several photos of Fort James Jackson? It is a National Historic Landmark. Bubba73 (talk) 05:25, 16 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Per Commons:Overcat. Category:Fort James Jackson is a subcategory of Category:National Historic Landmarks in Georgia (U.S. state), so those images should be in the former category and not the latter. Magic♪piano 13:18, 16 December 2015 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, I understand. Bubba73 (talk) 21:21, 16 December 2015 (UTC)Reply

Cathedral of Saint Patrick (Norwich, Connecticut) edit

Hi. I see you have taken a lot of photos of buildings in Connecticut. Assuming you live there, would it possible for you to get photo(s) of the Cathedral of Saint Patrick in Norwich? There are a couple of postcard images, but it would be nice to have photos as well. Thank you for considering this request. Farragutful (talk) 14:31, 9 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

I don't live in Connecticut, but I do drive through it several times a year. I don't often take the I-395 route south of Putnam, and probably won't until I've got more picture sites in that area. I'll add this to the list, though. Magic♪piano 17:41, 9 March 2017 (UTC)Reply
Thanks. I appreciate the consideration. Farragutful (talk) 03:35, 10 March 2017 (UTC)Reply

Are you able to help? edit

Wondering if you could take a look at this. I'm not sure how to re-name or move categories, but I think this could use some help. - Thekohser (talk) 20:23, 8 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

See Commons:Rename a category for guidance. I would recommend creating a new category, recategorizing the existing files to it, and then adding a {{Category redirect}} template to the old one. Magic♪piano 01:07, 9 April 2017 (UTC)Reply

Gardner-Pingree_House,_dining_room edit

Dear Magicpiano, I am a Prof. in Architecture and I am currently redacting a book titled “History of Interior Design and Furniture” and it will be published in Turkish edition. I would like to use your image from https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Gardner-Pingree_House,_dining_room.jpg. At the end of the book, the name of the beholder of the image is noted in ‘Picture Credits.’ Do you prefer us to use your nick name in Wikipedia or we can note your proper name if you prefer. D&R canal Hamilton NJ? edit

I noticed these photos: https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:HamiltonTwpNJ_DelawareRaritanCanal_1.jpg https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:HamiltonTwpNJ_DelawareRaritanCanal_2.jpg And I'm having trouble figuring out where they are and what they show. I know what the label says, but the coordinates are just flat out wrong, apparently, because they place them as being up in Hunterdon County and not near any bodies of water at all. That having been said, they don't really look like the D&R Canal, either, and the only section of the D&R canal that ever flowed through Hamilton is the section which is now semi-merged with the marsh around Duck Island. Could you give me at least an idea of where you actually took those photos? Famartin (talk) 05:53, 23 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

The camera location on those pages was not supplied by me, and would have come from one of the National Register listing pages that includes the D&R canal (which is why it's off). The pictures were taken somewhere near here; I parked at the I-295 northbound rest area. Magic♪piano 13:52, 23 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
Excellent, thanks for the clarification. I've fixed the coordinates to match the picture locations. Famartin (talk) 16:53, 23 September 2017 (UTC)Reply

Montana Aeronautics Commission NRHP number edit

Hi,

The reference number you added for Montana Aeronautics Commission is incorrect. It doesn't go to the NRHP page for that building. You can search for it but it isn't there. Try it:100001392 If you know of a correct NRHP that actually goes to the page describing that item, please add. Is it ok if I remove it? It's particularly irritating for us NRHP fans to be unable to access further info via the NRHP site. Usually it means an application was made but it is not registered. For some reason that invalid number (or similar ones) is added to many NRHP sites. I guess many people never check it! Thanks, Kalbbes (talk) 16:40, 10 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Per the 2017 NRHP listings, 100001392 is the correct reference number for "Montana Aeronautics Commission Operations Historic District". Links into NPGallery generally do not work for *any* new listings since about 2013-14; this is a known issue that NPS is not likely to change. You will probably have to go to the state office for the nomination form. Magic♪piano 17:43, 10 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
I'm sorry. I didn't know about that list. My apologies. Kalbbes (talk) 20:22, 10 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

Hi there! Kevin from Wiki Loves Monuments in the United States here. I know it's been a tough year for everyone, and I hope this message finds you well.

You are receiving this message as a participant in last year's Wiki Loves Monuments 2019 in the United States. First, a recap: We concluded with over 5,200 great photos of U.S. historical sites made possible by contributors like you. If you haven't yet seen, last year's U.S. winners are viewable here, and the international winners here (including multiple from the United States!).

Second, as you may have seen from the banner notices on Wikipedia, this year's Wiki Loves Monuments 2020 in the United States has been running through October instead of September in consideration of the pandemic and the hectic start of the fall season. Despite the challenges of the year, we're thrilled that the United States has surpassed 5,000 photo contributions so far.

October 31st is the last day to upload photos for the U.S. competition this year. If you've already contributed, thank you so much - and it's great to have you again this year! If you haven't yet contributed but are interested in participating again, you're invited to join us during these last couple days. Check out the United States event page for more information. Remember that you are welcome to upload and submit photos of historic sites that you've taken any time in the past, not just this month.

As always, thank you for participating in Wiki Loves Monuments! If you'd like to respond to this message directly, please do so on on my talk page. ~Kevin Payravi (talk) 07:20, 30 October 2020 (UTC)Reply

Welch's factory building in Westfield NY edit

I noticed you uploaded two images of the old Welch's juice factory in Westfield, NY from a few years ago; were you able to go inside the building?
