Unfortunately that image is highly unlikely to be free and I have therefore marked it accordingly on the Hebrew Wikipedia. Sorry, Yonatan talk 08:18, 25 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Incorrect Licensing edit

Hey, it looks like we've been bumping into each other for photos on the English wikipedia in the past hour or so ;). Anyway, I noticed you tagged Image:Blues Alley.JPG as in the Public Domain because it comes from a federal government source; however, the domain of your source notes that the photo comes from the district of Columbia. Dc isn't technically part of the federal government, it's its own territory as faras I know (although you being a DC resident, please correct me if I'm wrong). Do you know whether DC itself puts its works in the public domain? (I've been looking for this answer since before this came up.) Even if they do, it's still probably inappropriate to tag the photo as coming from the federal government. In case the photo needs to be replaced, there's a near identical shot appropriately licensed here. user:Ybboren.wiki

D.: I'm hopeful this is an appropriate place to leave a request. I butchered a CATEGORY page for Wolf's Head Society. Could you help me out?65.88.88.126 17:45, 28 August 2009 (UTC)SLY111 D.: Another plea. On the Wolf's Head Society CATEGORY page, two names alphabetized on letter of first name rather than last night, respectively "Paul Moore, Sr." (under "P") and "William Moore (banker)" (under "W"). Any help here? Thanks as always....65.88.88.126 16:51, 11 September 2009 (UTC)SLY111Reply

Hello, D Monack!

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

[[Category:Category name]]

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Astronomical diagrams]]
[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.
