Uganda railways

Hello there Nick! I've been searching for information on a linen reproduction print that I recently found -- then I came across your image (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e6/South_Africa-Uganda_Railway001.jpg).

Not sure how this print ended up in the US (Ohio, to be exact) -- but are you the artist? If not, what can you tell me about it?

Thanks!

-Meghan

I took the photo, but am not the artist. The artist would have been someone working for or contracted by the en:Uganda Railway. The photo is of a reproduction of an old advertising poster for the Uganda Railway. Occasionally you will see this poster in old books or magazines such as The empire of nature: hunting, conservation, and British imperialism By John M. MacKenzie or even find an original for sale or auction. This specific reproduction is located on a wall in a coach belonging to the Friends of the Rail. They operate a heritage steam train out of Pretoria, South Africa.
Not surprising that you found one in the US. The advert would have been distributed to travel agencies around the world.
If you have an original print you might want to see that it ends up in a transport museum or heritage steam railway. --NJR_ZA (talk) 04:28, 9 November 2011 (UTC)

That is really interesting and unusual. Did some googling to get more info and I'll comment further on the FP page. --NJR_ZA (talk) 13:19, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
