Uganda railways
Hello there Nick! I've been searching for information on a linen reproduction print that I recently found -- then I came across your image (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/e/e6/South_Africa-Uganda_Railway001.jpg).
Not sure how this print ended up in the US (Ohio, to be exact) -- but are you the artist? If not, what can you tell me about it?
Thanks!
-Meghan
- I took the photo, but am not the artist. The artist would have been someone working for or contracted by the en:Uganda Railway. The photo is of a reproduction of an old advertising poster for the Uganda Railway. Occasionally you will see this poster in old books or magazines such as The empire of nature: hunting, conservation, and British imperialism By John M. MacKenzie or even find an original for sale or auction. This specific reproduction is located on a wall in a coach belonging to the Friends of the Rail. They operate a heritage steam train out of Pretoria, South Africa.
- Not surprising that you found one in the US. The advert would have been distributed to travel agencies around the world.
- If you have an original print you might want to see that it ends up in a transport museum or heritage steam railway. --NJR_ZA (talk) 04:28, 9 November 2011 (UTC)

- That is really interesting and unusual. Did some googling to get more info and I'll comment further on the FP page. --NJR_ZA (talk) 13:19, 15 November 2011 (UTC)
