Question about Italian FOP

Ciao Nicola, ti chiedo un parere su di una mia foto, in quanto vedo che hai caricato varie foto, mentre io sono agli inizi: ho fotografato un cartello del percorso di una ciclabile, ma è stata cancellata, a causa della mancanza della legge sul panorama. Ho suggerito che in realtà era una foto del tutto simile a quelle della categoria Bikeway_signs_in_Italy, ed in particolare di una tua foto della ciclabile sul Po, ma l'amministratore ha proceduto con la cancellazione. Ciao, personalmente nelle foto che ho pubblicato non ci trovo nessuna violazione della legge sul panorama.... però non ho le competenze per giudicare se una foto può essere o meno cancellata. Questa è una decisione che spetta agli amministratori. Foto di Ferrara

Ciao Nicola, anzitutto ne approfitto per ringraziarti di tutto il lavoro di correzione sulle foto di Paolo Monti. Volevo poi chiederti conferma di questa modifica, dato che se non si tratta della cattedrale dobbiamo rimuovere anche le coordinate che avevamo aggiunto. Ciao Marco la foto che ho modificato ritrae un dettaglio di difficile identificazione, comunque escluderei la cattedrale di Ferrara. Personalmente ho anche qualche dubbio che si tratti di una chiesa ma piuttosto penserei al portale d'ingresso di un'abitazione privata... questo genere di decorazioni in terracotta sono molto diffuse in tutta la città e chissà che non riesca con il tempo ad individuarlo. Quindi per me le coordinate si possono cancellare. Ciao Nicola

Per poter spostare velocemente le immagini da una categoria all'altra ti consiglio di usare il gadget Cat a lot, lo puoi attivare dalle preferenze, poi ti apparirà un quadratino giallo in basso a destra, è molto intuitivo --Sailko (talk) 18:25, 6 October 2016 (UTC)

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the second round of the 2017 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the twelfth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2017) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year were entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

There are two total rounds of voting. In the first round, you voted for as many images as you liked. In Round 1, there were 1475 candidate images. There are 58 finalists in Round 2, comprised of the top 30 overall as well as the top 2 from each sub-category.

In the final round, you may vote for a maximum of three images. The image with the most votes will become the Picture of the Year 2017.

Round 2 will end on 22 July 2018, 23:59 UTC.

Renaming Carpi files.

Ok, thanks. I've adapted the descriptions and check the categories. Now I've found a new problem. There are 13 files where the location is still wrong. I've seen that the template location of the these photo point to Modena, that it's a town near Carpi. Categorie 2

Ciao Nicola Quirico. Il lavoro che stai facendo sulle categorie è senz'altro notevole e importante, tuttavia bisognerebbe che tu lo affrontassi facendo un po' più attenzione a certi piccoli errori che rischiano di ridurre l'utilità del tuo lavoro e di necessitare che qualcun altro debba rimettere le mani dove sei già passato tu.

Prendiamo ad esempio i file che hai sistemato oggi sul Guercino:

• Nella categoria Category:Paintings Saint Lawrence by Guercino‎ manca evidentemente la preposizione "of". Ho sistemato io, ma mi sembra che in altri casi ti sei scordato la preposizione o l'articolo "the", o qualche maiuscola/minuscola sbagliata. Per favore stacci più attento, o nel dubbio chiedi prima.
• La stessa categoria contiene soltanto i file di una categoria che esiste già, Category:Martyrdom of Saint Lawrence (Guercino, Ferrara). Se è un duplicato hai fatto male a crearla, perché la seconda è più specifica; se volevi fare un categoria superiore più generica dovevi semplicemente aggiungerla come sottocategoria, non copiarci dentro i file, lasciandole scollegate.
• I file erano ulteriormente copiati dentro un categoria superiore "Religious paintings by Guercino": anche in questo caso il raccordo deve avvenire tramite categoria, non dentro i singoli file. Tutto chiaro?
• La solita categoria aveva una sottocategoria sbagliata "Paintings of Saint Lawrence in Italy" (chi lo dice che TUTTI i quadri del Guercino su san Lorenzo siano necessariamente in Italia?) e ne mancava una fondamentale di raccordo "Paintings of Saints by Guercino" (in pratica non era dentro nessuna sottocategoria del Guercino).

Ricapitolando, l'albero del pittore dovrebbe funzionare così:

• Guercino --> Paintings by Guercino by subject --> Religious paintings --> Saints --> Saint Lawrence --> Martyrdom of Saint Lawrence (Guercino, Ferrara).

I file devono stare solo nell'ultima categoria, e solo questa deve essere raccordata geograficamente (Paintings of Sainty Lawrence in Italy, Baroque paintings in Ferrara, ecc.)

Un altro par di maniche sono le categorie per "location", ma il principio è lo stesso. Ho visto che hai riordinato la Pinacoteca nazionale di Ferrara, forse c'è da ricontrollare?

• Guercino --> Paintings by Guercino by museum (o location) --> Paintings by Guercino in the Pinacoteca Nazionale (Ferrara) --> Singolo dipinto.

Tutto chiaro?

Se sono sviste, vabbé, stai più attento. Se invece sono cose che non conosci o non hai ben compreso nel funzionamento delle categorie cerca di documentarti maggiormente prima di editare e nel dubbio chiedi maggiori spiegazioni. Fammi pure sapere se qualcosa non è chiaro, sarebbe davvero un peccato se tutto questo tuo lavoro dovesse raggiungere solo un risultato parziale e richiedere ricontrolli da parte di altri utenti.

ciao Sailko grazie delle raccomandazioni che ho trovato molto chiare. Quello su Guercino è un lavoro che ho affrontato con molto entusiasmo ma anche con errori di distrazione e imperizia nel creare le categorie. Stesso discorso anche per la pinacoteca nazionale di Ferrara che proverò a rivedere seguendo le tue indicazioni. Tornando a Guercino avevo creato questa categoria Category:Works after Guercino poi mi sono accorto che esisteva già con questo nome Category:Works after Il Guercino ma non riesco a spostarla per unificarla. Tra l'altro l'indicazione Il Guercino mi sembra poco usata, in genere i nomi degli artisti non sono preceduti dall'articolo. Per altri dubbi proverò a informarmi meglio o a chiedere aiuto. Wiki Loves Monuments 2020 in Toscana sta per iniziare

Ciao, un messaggio da alcune utenze del gruppo locale Toscana Continua la preparazione di Wiki Loves Monuments per il 2020. Manca una settimana alla partenza e per chi fosse già in giro ricordiamo le nuove località aderenti, già riportate nelle nostre liste in costante aggiornamento. Nel 2020 hanno completato l'iter di ampliamento le amministrazioni di Cascina, Pomarance, Pescia, Empoli, San Quirico d'Orcia, Chiusi, Santa Fiora e Piombino, mentre hanno aderito per la prima volta a tempo indefinito il Museo delle Aviotruppe di Pisa e i comuni di Pescaglia, Gallicano, Camaiore, Santa Croce sull'Arno, Casale Marittimo, Quarrata, Montelupo Fiorentino, Buonconvento, Pratovecchio Stia, Sansepolcro, Castiglion Fiorentino, Anghiari, Badia Tedalda e Campiglia Marittima. Ci sono anche adesioni solo per il 2020 di alcune dimore storiche attorno a Pisa. Risultano al momento richieste formali o informali di partecipazione o ampliamento della copertura da un'altra ventina di enti e amministrazioni, alcune delle quali potrebbero concretizzarsi nelle prossime due settimane. Fate attenzione che alcune delle adesioni solo per l'edizione 2019 nel nord della provincia di Prato e del comune di Massa non saranno probabilmente confermate, ma non sono ancora state rimosse dalle liste. Qui il video promozionale del 2019 e qui quello della nuova edizione. Il prossimo aggiornamento riporterà i volantini in più lingue e gli ultimi sviluppi sulle adesioni. Wiki Loves Monuments 2020 in Toscana è in corso

Ciao, un messaggio da alcune utenze del gruppo locale Toscana Gazie alla preparazione e al vostro impegno, WLM è un successo in regione anche per questa edizione. Siamo stabilmente primi per caricamenti a livello nazionale: qui potete vedere alcune statistiche. Al momento risultano più reattive le province di Livorno, Siena, Pisa, Prato e Firenze. Fra i nuovi beni aderenti confermati, e inseriti nelle liste, segnaliamo i comuni di Castel del Piano, Montignoso e la Domus Mazziniana di Pisa. Ci sono nuovi beni anche dal comune di Santa Fiora. Sono comunque in corso le verifiche sulla proprietà di alcuni edifici religiosi. C'è invece un aggiornamento nella lista di San Vincenzo, che aveva autorizzato annualmente nel 2019 e ha ridotto i beni aderenti. Per quanto riguarda le foto panoramiche, vengono smistate direttamente nelle categorie dei comuni e richiedono maggiore manutenzione, quindi vi preghiamo se possibile la cortesia di posticipare il loro caricamento a fine mese quando avremo più tempo di occuparcene. La campagna sociale in concerto su tutti e tre i canali (per Facebook la pagina Wiki Loves Toscana) prevede ogni quattro giorni una serie divulgativa sulle foto delle edizioni precedenti in bianco e nero (caricate progressivamente qui su Commons) alternata a una serie sulle foto migliori dell'edizione in corso. Ogni giorno nel tardo pomeriggio o prima serata solo su Twitter e Facebook (gruppo ToscanaWiki) viene inoltre postata una foto fra quelle giunte predligendo varibailità di luogo e tema. Come ogni anno, e questo è il decimo anniversario, torna Wiki Loves Monuments, il concorso fotografico più grande al mondo che negli anni ha coinvolto quasi 50 nazioni e più di 15.000 persone e hanno prodotto un database di oltre 360.000 immagini di monumenti, patrimonio culturale dell’umanità intera a disposizione di tutti su Wikimedia Commons.

Con la tua partecipazione hai sostenuto lo sviluppo turistico del nostro Paese perché rende disponibili a tutti le sue bellezze. L’obiettivo è la valorizzazione dell’immenso patrimonio culturale italiano sul web. Le fotografie dei monumenti vengono condivise su Wikimedia Commons, il grande database di immagini di Wikipedia, con licenza libera CC-BY-SA. Wiki Loves Monuments contribuisce infatti a diffondere la filosofia di Wikimedia Italia e di tutti i progetti wiki, che si basano sulla libera condivisione della cultura.

L’Italia nelle sue prime 9 edizioni (dal 2012 al 2020) conta 145.000 immagini 15.000 monumenti, 2.000 fotografi, 2.000 enti. Uno dei 2.000 fotografi sei tu e quindi anche quest’anno non puoi mancare, partecipa!!!

Siamo stabilmente secondi per caricamenti a livello nazionale: qui e qui si possono consultare alcune statistiche. Al momento risultano meno reattive le province di Prato e di Grosseto. Fra i nuovi beni inseriti nelle liste segnaliamo da parte dei comuni sempre più ampliamenti rispetto alle nuove adesioni, mentre continuano ad aggiungersi sempre più beni privati. Tutte le liberatorie annunciate da quest'anno anche su Instagram sono da ritenersi verificate. Potrebbero arrivare comuni a fine mese al momento ancora in via di approvazione. Per quanto riguarda le foto panoramiche, vengono inviate direttamente nelle categorie dei comuni e richiedono spesso la creazione di varie sottocategorie; per questo motivo vi preghiamo di non inviare troppe foto simili, dovendole in seguito smistare a mano. La campagna sui tre canali sociali (per Facebook sia pagina che gruppo) prevede come nel 2020 una serie divulgativa con le foto delle edizioni precedenti in bianco e nero (caricate qui su Commons) alternata a una serie sulle foto migliori dell'edizione 2021, inframmezzate con più infografiche generali. Ogni giorno solo su Twitter e Facebook (gruppo ToscanaWiki) viene inoltre postata una foto fra quelle giunte prediligendo variabilità di luogo e tema. Dear uploader of European Science Photo Competition 2015 and Wiki Science Competition 2017 and Wiki Science Competition 2019, we would like to remind you that Wiki Science Competition 2021 has started in the whole world. It is now completed in Russia (active in May), but it's still open in almost all the other countries.

If you want to take part in WSC2021, please consult this page. Only some national categories are associated to competitions with local prizes.

If you are an expert user, we remind you that images uploaded within the deadline can be included in any case in their national category even if not uploaded with the main interface.

Please keep in mind that there is a new category this year, that is "astronomy".

Sulle tue nuove sottocategorie.

Ciao, vedendo che hai creato la Category:Architecture in Porto Garibaldi (Comacchio) mi vedo "costretto" a farti un appunto; a parte che avresti lasciato un refuso (non è in provincia di Rovigo) ma tali sottocategorie per frazioni di solito non si strutturano se non per casi molto particolari. Sicuramente se ne troveranno tra la cat di comuni soppressi che nessuno aveva voglia di sistemare e sono state spostate così com'erano, oppure in casi di comuni sparsi dove ogni singolo centro urbano è pieno di fabbricati potenzialmente enciclopedici (oltre a esserci quelli semplicemente curiosi o complementari). Concludendo, IMO non impazzire sulle sottocategorizzazioni delle frazioni (e non che comunque qui le infiliamo nei "villages"), piuttosto si faccia un lavoro accurato in quelle dei comuni, inserendo quelle che mancano e creando delle categorie complementari :-) Threecharlie (talk) 16:48, 5 October 2022 (UTC)

Ciao, grazie dei consigli sono sempre utili e terrò presente per le prossime frazioni. In realtà ero partito dal comune di Comacchio che era molto intasato di foto (alcune di grande qualità) ma scarso di categorie. Sistemato il comune mi ero spostato sui lidi di Comacchio che anche se frazioni hanno un grosso peso turistico. Qui si trovavano le foto della spiaggia e quelle dei centri urbani tutte mescolate... Ho già corretto la categoria inserendo la provincia di Ferrara per Porto Garibaldi mi era sfuggito l'errore grossolano. --Nicola Quirico (talk) 17:12, 5 October 2022 (UTC)

Già, per le località balneari c'è qualche grattacapo in più; le spiagge sono categorizzate come beaches alle volte come marine, credo solo le prime in senso letteralmente geografico, che poi sono da sotto-sottocategorizzare per sea (qui su Commons sembra un puzzle che non finisce mai...). Buona cosa è vedere cosa hanno fatto prima di noi, di solito qualche utente/admin solerte è passato a dare una struttura congrua a quelle più note e corpose di immagini, anche se alle volte qualcosa da migliorare si trova sempre. Ultima cosa, il mio mentore è @DenghiùComm: , mi ha seguito nelle mie prime categorizzazioni, è l'utente a cui posso ricorrere per discutere se è il caso di crearne di nuove o meno, è un mago delle correlazioni tra categorie, insomma se si vuole vedere come IMO si dovrebbe categorizzare su Commons è un faro nella notte, tienine conto e contattalo se hai delle perplessità ;-) buon lavoro. PS: io ho la mania di mettere le categorie di foto per data e nazionalità, oltre che per mese e città italiana, mi avrai visto passare tra i tuoi upload, non sono semplici scleri ma più volte mi hanno tolto d'impaccio nello stabilire cosa fosse rappresentato in una immagine senza categorie e senza indicazioni geografiche nel nomefile, così ora se sono mancanti li aggiungo anche se sono ben categorizzate (cercare una foto di Ferrara primaverile o invernale è anche più facile); la mia è una preghiera, non certo un'esortazione, non ci sono linee guida da seguire in questi casi, ma dato che sono migliaia le immagini caricate dai bot che hanno il {{Taken on}} e sono categorizzate per data e non per nazione tanto vale fare uno sforzo in più e spostarle nelle cat "nazionali" aggiungendo |cat=|location=Italy}} ;-) --Threecharlie (talk) 05:16, 6 October 2022 (UTC)

grazie Threecharlie, tutti consigli molto utili su come muovervi. In genere categorizzo prevalentemente opere d'arte ma mi capita di fare anche incursioni in altri "ambienti" per lo più legati al territorio dove abito. Avevo notato che spesso nelle foto che ho caricato avevi inserito data e nazionalità ma non conoscevo l'importanza di questa categoria. Quest'anno non abbiamo segnalato in corso d'opera perché abbiamo avuto delle metriche di adesione molto più alte rispetto agli ultimi anni, quindi incentivare il caricamento sarebbe stato controproducente per i partecipanti più occasionali. Probabilmente il prossimo anno ci sarà un calo fisiologico, e conviene pertanto preparare i vostri scatti per il 2023. I semifinalisti, come ogni edizione, sono invitati alla cerimonia di premiazione che quest'anno si terrà nel tardo pomeriggio di sabato 28 gennaio p.v. a Montespertoli (FI) presso il Museo della Vite e del Vino. Greetings from Wiki Loves Folklore International Team!

Wiki Loves Folklore is an international photography contest hosted on Wikimedia Commons to document folklore and intangible cultural heritage from around the world, such as folk festivals, folk dances, folk music, folk activities, folk games, folk cuisine, folk wear, folktales, folk games, folk religion, mythology, and many more.

The campaign invites participants to document photographs, videos, and audios linked to folk culture and fit within the contest's theme. Through this campaign, you may become a part of a community dedicated to preserving our intangible culture, which has been brought and passed down for thousands of years.

How to Contribute?

The dates for the submission in the photography contest on Wikimedia Commons are from 1 February to 31 March 2023. Probably you are wondering how you can take part. It’s simple: grab a camera, record an image, video or audio under the folklore theme and start uploading ! To learn more about the rules, check out our Project page on Wikimedia Common. Here are the exciting prizes which you can win internationally.

Wikimedia Commons is happy to announce that the 2022 Picture of the Year competition is now open. This year will be the seventeenth edition of the annual Wikimedia Commons photo competition, which recognizes exceptional contributions by users on Wikimedia Commons. Wikimedia users are invited to vote for their favorite images featured on Commons during the last year (2022) to produce a single Picture of the Year.

Hundreds of images that have been rated Featured Pictures by the international Wikimedia Commons community in the past year are all entered in this competition. These images include professional animal and plant shots, breathtaking panoramas and skylines, restorations of historical images, photographs portraying the world's best architecture, impressive human portraits, and so much more.

For your convenience, we have sorted the images into topical categories. Two rounds of voting will be held: In the first round, you may vote for as many images as you like. The top 30 overall and the two most popular images in each category will continue to the final. In the final round, you may vote for just three images to become the Picture of the Year.

Round 1 will end on 1 May 2023, 23:59:59 UTC.

Anche quest’anno torna Wiki Loves Monuments: da oggi al 30 settembre puoi partecipare caricando le tue foto per contribuire a illustrare il patrimonio culturale italiano: vai sul sito wikilovesmonuments.it e scopri come fare!

Oltre ai 20.000 monumenti già in concorso, quest’anno si aggiungono più di 60.000 edifici religiosi, tema centrale di quest’edizione. Prendi la tua macchina fotografica, o il tuo smartphone, e individua i monumenti in concorso tramite la nuova web-app – disponibile sia da mobile che desktop – app.wikilovesmonuments.it, da cui potrai anche caricare direttamente i tuoi scatti. Sono ammesse anche foto scattate prima del concorso, purché siano inedite.

A livello nazionale verranno premiate le dieci migliori fotografie: cinque per gli edifici religiosi e cinque per le altre categorie di monumenti; queste immagini parteciperanno anche alla fase internazionale del concorso. Non sono ammesse immagini con watermark o cornici, né fotografie eccessivamente elaborate in postproduzione. Wiki Loves Monuments 2023 in Toscana

Ciao, un messaggio da alcune utenze del gruppo locale Toscana L'edizione 2023 di Wiki Loves Monuments si è conclusa. Lo scorso anno non avevamo segnalato l'inizio del concorso perché abbiamo avuto delle metriche di adesione più alte rispetto agli ultimi anni, quindi incentivare il caricamento sarebbe stato controproducente per i partecipanti più occasionali. Anche quest'anno l'adesione è stata alta (anzi nettamente più alta), probabilmente perché c'erano molte foto di chiese (la novità di quest'anno) negli archivi dei partecipanti storici e per questo non è stato inviato un messaggio durante settembre, mantenendo la strategia di massimizzare la promozione durante gli anni di minore partecipazione. I finalisti son stati nel frattempo selezionati e annunciati. Qui troverete il riepiligo con i vincitori. Continuate a seguire i nostri canali social per ulteriori informazioni riguardanti la cerimonia di premiazione, che avrà luogo a Piombino nei prossimi mesi. How to ask for speedy-delete of an empty category

When you want to ask for speedy-delete of an empty category, best practice is to mark it with {{SD|C2}} if it would be OK to re-create it in the future, given that appropriate content becomes available or {{SD|C1}} if it is an inappropriate category name that should not be reused. In particular, this is better practice than just blanking the category page, as you did at Category:Statue of Liberty (Florence). ("C1" and "C2" come from Commons:Criteria for speedy deletion).
