Important message for file movers

A community discussion has been closed where the consensus was to grant all file movers the suppressredirect user right. This will allow file movers to not leave behind a redirect when moving files and instead automatically have the original file name deleted. Policy never requires you to suppress the redirect, suppression of redirects is entirely optional.

Possible acceptable uses of this ability:

To move recently uploaded files with an obvious error in the file name where that error would not be a reasonable redirect. For example: moving "Sheep in a tree.jpg" to "Squirrel in a tree.jpg" when the image does in fact depict a squirrel.
To perform file name swaps.
When the original file name contains vandalism. (File renaming criterion #5)

Please note, this ability should be used only in certain circumstances and only if you are absolutely sure that it is not going to break the display of the file on any project. Redirects should never be suppressed if the file is in use on any project. When in doubt, leave a redirect. If you forget to suppress the redirect in case of file name vandalism or you are not fully certain if the original file name is actually vandalism, leave a redirect and tag the redirect for speedy deletion per G2.

Přejmenovávání obrázků

V souvislosti s tímto přejmenováním obrázku si dovoluji připomenout pravidla pro přejmenovávání obrázků.

Obecně platí, že není žádoucí přejmenovávat soubory jen proto, že by nový název mohl být o trochu lepší nebo přesnější, ale přejmenovávání je přípustné jen ve vymezených typech případů: například pokud je dosavadní název zcela nesmyslný/bezobsažný, nebo pokud je vyloženě chybný (ať jde o faktické/věcné chyby, např. chybně identifikovaný objekt, nebo např. jednoznačné překlepy či hrubky - používání velkých/malých písmen či absence diakritiky nebo interpunkce takovouto chybou zpravidla není, pokud nemění význam). Čistě "vylepšovací" přejmenování je přípustné pouze tehdy, pokud přejmenováváte soubory, které jste sám/sama nahrál/nahrála nebo jde o přejmenování na žádost toho, kdo obrázek nahrál.

Jinak obecně platí, že název obrázku má být přiměřeně stručný a není od něj vyžadováno, aby poskytoval zcela vyčerpávající a jednoznačnou identifikaci (byť samozřejmě je vhodné při nahrávání obrázku myslet na to, aby název nebyl zavádějící). Z tohoto hlediska původní název File:Samorostla.JPG byl zcela vyhovující. Chybný není, a nemyslím si, že by byl natolik obecný, že by bylo urgentně nutné přejmenování. Ta bližší specifikace samozřejmě nesmí chybět ve vlastním popisu. I když toto je spíš hraniční případ, takže nechci tvrdit, že to byla vyložená chyba nebo porušení pravidel.

Důvodů, proč se k přejmenovávání souborů má přístupovat s rozvahou a zdrženlivostí, je několik.

Jedním z nich je, aby nedocházelo k tahanicím mezi uživateli, kdy někdo má nějaký styl pojmenovávání souborů a někdo jiný by mu ty soubory obratem přejmenovával podle jiného vzorce. Pokud neexistuje jednotný mustr, jak názvy souborů sestavovat, tak je nutno respektovat, že každý přispěvatel má jiný styl a jiné zvyklosti, a není obecně stanoven standard, že by název "geografické" fotky povinně musel začínat názvem obce/města. Máme tady třeba kolegu, který z jakéhosi hnutí mysli začal plošně přejmenovávat své soubory typu "File:Třebíč, Horní ulice" na "File:Třebíč, okr. Třebíč, Horní ulice". Pokud tak přejmenovává jen své vlastní soubory, tak si nanejvýš řekneme, že je to trochu bláznivina a nesmysl (žádná jiná Třebíč než ta v okrese Třebíč ani neexistuje), ale dokážu si představit, že pokud by takto zbytečně až nesmyslně někdo přejmenovával "cizí" soubory, tak by to mohl být důvod sporu.
A druhým důvodem je, že každé přejmenovávání je zásahem do všech stránek, kde je soubor použit. Přičemž pokud je obrázek odkazován z nějaké stránky, která je buď zamčena proti editacím, nebo je odkaz vložen méně standardním způsobem (a to je přávě případ seznamů památek, kde odkaz není přímo ve zdrojovém kódu stránky, ale je generován šablonou, ze které jsou seznamy památek sestavovány), tak boti neumějí takový odkaz opravit (napřímit). Obrázek se pak sice na stránkách zobrazuje i nadále (přesměrování funguje), ale některé další nástroje s přesměrovanými obrázky neumějí korektně pracovat, takže například na stránce obrázku takové použití neumí detekovat funkce "Globální využití souboru" (tedy přestaneme vidět, že ten obrázek je někde použit) a to potom zase narušuje funkci celé řady dalších skriptů, které např. hlídají využití obrázků, jejich označení identifikátorem památky atd. Takže například na pomocné údržbové stránce cs:Wikipedista:Multichill/Images of cultural heritage monuments in Czech Republic without id se nám pak kromě obrázků, do kterých je třeba doplnit šablonu památky, objevují i "falešně pozitivní" případy, kdy sice na stránce obrázku šablona se správným ID nechybí, ale skript kvůli přejmenování neumí poznat, že to je tentýž obrázek jako v tom seznamu památek. Je to samozřejmě chyba toho skriptu, ale reálně to pak přidělá práci tomu, kdo se té údržbě věnuje.

Samozřejmě vyloženě chybné, zavádějící nebo bezobsažné názvy je vhodné opravit vždy, i za cenu těch komplikací, ale je třeba zdrženlivost u těch názvů, které sice nejsou úplně vyčerpávající nebo něčím dráždí typografický cit, ale v zásadě jsou výstižné a správné. Ale samozřejmě je tu šedá zóna obecnějších nebo ne zcela jednoznačných názvů souborů, u nichž tu hranici urgentnosti může každý vnímat trochu jinde. --ŠJů (talk) 18:20, 24 February 2021 (UTC)
