pdemcenko@hotmail.com Dear Dr Petter Bøckman: One of your diagrams made for Wikipedia articles ("Energy output in warm- and cold-blooded animals", with a lizard and mouse in it) is very interesting to me from a scientific point of view - not to mention the artistic merit, without which, however, I could not notice it. May I ask you some question? I need to find the work for which this diagram is done, and because I'm not a specialist in that area I have a kind of problem. I am interested in the specific values of the parameters in this diagram. Is this work, I mean the article, is yours? Will you be so kind to give me any link to this work or any other of this kind? Would you have any objections to the using of this diagram in my work - of course, with an indication of the author? I am happy to answer your possible questions. Thanks for this. Would you consider changing "Apes" to "Other apes," since humans are apes? Also, Old World monkeys split into two major branches I think. They are a much bigger group of monkeys than the New World ones. Thanks. Jonathan Tweet (talk) 04:28, 27 February 2016 (UTC)
- Sorry i answer late, I'm not much by here. The labels on the cladogram is made to reflect "common" usage, not the scientific one. The function of the cladogram is to show polyphyletic, paraphyletic and monophyletic groups, so as such the use of "apes" excepting humans is suitable (as an example of a commonly used paraphyletic unit). The reason the tree is used as such, is that no-one managed to find a full consensus tree of the reptiles and birds that included turtles. Petter Bøckman (talk) 20:25, 31 March 2016 (UTC)
