Hello, Roberto Mura!

Tip: Add categories to your images

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

Uploadwizard-categories.png

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations"). Pro-tip: The CommonSense tool can help you find the best category for your image.

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

User:Shizhao/testEdit

Commons-emblem-issue.svg User:Shizhao/test has been listed at Commons:Deletion requests so that the community can discuss whether it should be kept or not. We would appreciate it if you could go to voice your opinion about this at its entry.

If you created this user page, please note that the fact that it has been proposed for deletion does not necessarily mean that we do not value your kind contribution. It simply means that one person believes that there is some specific problem with it, such as a copyright issue.
Please remember to respond to and – if appropriate – contradict the arguments supporting deletion. Arguments which focus on the nominator will not affect the result of the nomination. Thank you!

File:Precession N.svgEdit

Hi, I'm sorry, but I had to delete this file. As you may have noticed, it was not working properly. The reason was, you were trying to display a bitmap file, which was only available on your hard drive. If you want to create a SVG based on a bitmap, you need to vectorize it, you cannot simply import the bitmap into it. –Tryphon 18:10, 5 May 2009 (UTC)

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful information about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

Hi Roberto, it's probably better to leave that message on OsamaK's talk page, since he was the one who nominated the file. Thanks, cflm (talk) 03:20, 21 September 2009 (UTC)

Trolleybuses (and astronomy)Edit

Hi,we spoke about aeronwy, then I saw your interest in astronomy and trolleybuses! Fascinating - and wiki probably not the place to discuss - but my wife and I both have separate childhood memories of trolleybuses (in 1950s and 1960s) in different areas of UK. Images remain strong - something different and 'modern' (even then) about trolleybuses.Tony in Devon (talk) 20:06, 4 December 2009 (UTC) knapp.tony[at]btinternet.com

OTRS PendingEdit

Citations for labels on OrionSpur.png?Edit

Roberto, If I am reading the image information correctly, you provided the image OrionSpur.png which is used in the Wikipedia article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orion%E2%80%93Cygnus_Arm

Where did you get the positions that you used to mark the objects on the map?

Unfortunately, when I try to plot the objects on your map in Celestia, using positions from Simbad and elsewhere, they are far away from where you show them to be. You can see my attempt on the Celestia Forum at http://www.shatters.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=16395&p=126343#p126343 Seldenball (talk) 05:17, 26 March 2011 (UTC)

Welcome, Dear Filemover!Edit

Commons File mover.svg

Hi Roberto Mura, you're now a filemover. When moving files please respect the following advice:

 • Use the CommonsDelinker link in the rename template to order a bot to replace all ocurrences of the old title with the new one. Or, if there was no rename-request, please use the Move & Replace-tab.
 • Please do not tag redirects as speedy. Other projects, including those using InstantCommons, might be using the file even though they don't show up in the global usage. Deleting the redirects would break their file references.
 • Please know and follow the file rename guidelines.
