Hi. Tell me how can I see an image deleted? Cezarika1 (talk) 05:00, 14 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

category:wake edit

Hallo Santosga,

you have changed the category of [1] to wake. Is wake also correct for the waves of the water birds or is a special category needed? Arnoldius (talk) 22:41, 6 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Category:Capitole de Toulouse vs Category:Toulouse Capitole edit

Hello Santosga, Toulouse Capitole is in fact the name of the district where Place du Capitole is, while Capitole de Toulouse, is only the building on that square, so I added the cat again (as well as a little explanation because that's indeed a bit confusing). - Olybrius (talk) 15:30, 14 August 2010 (UTC)Reply

Categories edit

Hello,

I do not quite get the purpose of such intersection categories. Shall we have Category:Black and white photographs of standing smiling women as well?

Temporary categories edit

Thanks for your concern. I am adding categories to completely uncategorized images with cat-a-lot, and deliberately left the "uncategorized" tag as I am generally adding only a single (not very specific) category to each image to get it somewhere that others will actually find it, and they still really need proper categorization. There are about 180000 completely uncategorized images out there (some going back to 2008 :-).

The categorization bot ignores the categories under "uncategorized media" so that is not a problem. I am keeping a watch, and any files in the uncategorized-by-month categories that the bot removes the template from, I also remove the uncategorized-by-month category (usually replacing it with a real category where one is obvious). I also remove the uncategorized-by-month category when someone else adds a category using hotcat.

I am using hotcat to categorize images, and it needs the files to be in a real category already, it also help me see which files I have processed.

Ever since Jan 2011 we have been loosing the battle, more and more files are being left completely uncategorized (the glitch in June was due to the bot being fooled by the new upload process). My intent is to give at least minimal categorization to old files (most of which haven't been used, otherwise the common-sense bot would suggest categories based on where they are in use). Many of them will probably be deleted because they are just personal images, or spam and don't actually need real categorization (ie there are a large number of photographs of men, many of which are often unused user-page-images. And there are a large number of company logos probably uploaded for promotional purposes.). I intend to stop at the end of 2010, and go back and start adding more specific categories.

Apart from confusion, is there any specific problem that I am causing you? Your comments on any better plan are welcome :-) --Tony Wills (talk) 22:06, 21 July 2011 (UTC)Reply

hotcat edit

please use the ++-sign (on the left), which allows to change, remove or add multiple categorys. --Akkakk (talk) 19:08, 25 July 2011 (UTC)Reply
