Cicindela maritima edit

Hi Siga, please don't stop this discussion, for me it's important to get it right. Still I'm convinced it Cicindela maritima and after a new search even more. Give me the change to show you more evidence ;o). First look at this link and give special attention to the middle white waved band. Now look at this link, they are similar both Cicindela hybrida. And now the next: please look at this link and notice the broader band like on my picture. Next to that on the russian site the Cicindela maritima has some but not execive hair, like some pictures on the site you mentioned. Those pictures where of an larve I think not of an Imago. I would appriciated it very much if you would take a look to the links and give me your opinion. -Svdmolen 15:20, 26 October 2006 (UTC)Reply

thanks for this further warning. I wrote allready on two different pages, that I did not take that picture from anywhere, but that it was sent to me from the archevist of "Entomologische Blätter", when her read my article and noticed that there was no photo. I told him, that we can take the photo only, when the copyright question is clear. He told me, that there is no hint in the archive, where the photo comes from, but that it was published in the "Entomologische Blätter" many many years ago and most probably was braught there by Mr. Horion himself, who worked at "Entomologische Blätter" himself. I cannot give more information, because there is no. Unfortunatly there also is no other photo existing at "Entomologische Blätter". --Siga 15:57, 19 January 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi, you marked Image:Opsilia coerulescens.jpg as having the wrong name, do you know where the correctly-named file is? Can you add the name of other file template to the image so it can get processed? Thanks and kind regards, Deadstar 16:07, 20 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your message - the wrongly named files are now deleted, so all should be ok. Deadstar 07:42, 2 July 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello Siga I am a professional entomologist (Robert Nash Ulster Museum, Ireland and so see a lot of insect photos. Yours are excellent.I am very interested to see that you use a Ricoh Caplio 3. I have a Caplio 5 but have not used it for macro.I assume the flash does not work so what do you use for lighting? Most of my photos on Wiki are studio shots of Parnassius.Even then the lighting is difficult.Hope you can help I will retire soon and then the Caplio may be my only camera (except analogue Nikon.Notafly 20:06, 21 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hi Sega Thankyou for your very full reply.I would like a picture of your set up. My website is now on my User page and that gives my e-mail address. I am thinking of writing proper illustrated accounts of insect structure (poorly done so far) Perhaps we could collaborate.I can easily supply specimens of identified Diptera and Hymenoptera.I will write more by e-mail if you agree and we can make a plan. All the best and many thanks again. Robert Notafly 20:12, 26 March 2008 (UTC) eReply

There seems to be a problem regarding the description and/or licensing of this particular file. It has been found that you've added in the image's description only a Template that's not a license and although it provides useful informations about the image, it's not a valid license. Could you please resolve this problem, adding the license in the image linked above? You can edit the description page and change the text. Uploading a new version of the file does not change the description of the file. This page may give you more hints on which license to choose. Thank you.

Hello, Siga!

Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Thanks again for your uploads! More information about categorization can be found in Commons:Categories, and don't hesitate to leave a note on the help desk.

Answer to Marion edit

hallo!! danke fur die wonderbar model von dieses mucha flieg (flies flight). Ich bin franzosich , so entscudigung fur mein deutsch! I'm cureently a student in biology, and have some king of exposé to do, wih experiment and modelisation and all. i'd like to know how you made the fly modelisation, if your progem is vailable (please!!) because it's very accurate. thanks for your time, Marion L

High Marion

I don't know exactly what you are speeking about. I made no model of "flies flight". May be you made a mistake with the author, or may be you are speeking of the "Motion of Insectwing". This is not for flies especially, but for insects in general. It is generated by a freely available programm "GIMP" but you have to have much practice to know the programm well enough to create a model like that. You have to create different layers, for each picture a new layer (likely the series of pictures in a traditional motion-picture). I think a real model could also be made by wood, paper and gums or other materials. If you just want to use it, feel free. You have just to mention, that it is from Wikipedia Commons and the author is Siga. I hope I could help you. If you have further questions, put them behind my answer. You can speak French too. I know the language well enough to understand, just not well enough to speak.

I am not very technical but Shyamal (India birds entomology) is and is very helpful. Try him here[2]. Can you help me. My only specimen of Morpho thamyris has no head [3] Can you fix this with a head from another Morpho? I'd be very happy to see this Robert Notafly (talk) 21:03, 18 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

I had a first look already. I think I can try. The result will be a little smaller than the original, because I have to scale down the bigger animal without head to the size of the one with head. And I think you can realize the fraud if you look very close to the full resolution. I will try tomorrow and if I think it will do, I will send you the result by e-mail. Then you may decide.
So long. --Siga (talk) 21:24, 18 October 2009 (UTC)Reply
