In the meanwhile I think it would be better to refer my name by "Siga, Wikimedia Commons", because each country has its own Wikipedia, but there is only one Wikimedia Commons. I myself also thought first, that it is Anastrangalia sanguinolenta. But I doubted because of the black stripe at the side. So I sent the picture to a forum of specialists and they told me, that it is A. dubia.

You can see here http://www.koleopterologie.de/gallery/ several pictures of both species and recognize the variability. Its only a little bit complicated. First right side, up, look for Chrysomeloidea and click on Cerambycidae. Then a search field will apear where you can write Anastrangalia. Then click on the the different files, and the pictures will apear in the middle. This is a gallery wich is strongly controlled by specialists. Nobody can put pictures in, which are not controlled by specialists. I think it is a very good and severe gallery. --Siga (talk) 19:15, 3 September 2010 (UTC)

Hi Siga, my draws was based on similar pictures found in some Italian textbooks about agricultural entomology, that are not rigorous about taxonomy and phylogeny. Descriptions of Siphonaptera mouthparts are too simplified, but those of Tripids are more accurated, but I do not rembember now. I cannot verify now these pictures because my books are stored within boxes (I'm moving house) but they were representetive schemas, not pictures derived from microscope views. Also, I'm not expert about tripids and fleats because I'm interest especially about flies and hemiptera. So, I think it's possible that there are some inaccuracies but I cannot resolve your doubts in this moment. Please wait a few months or (if you want) modify the drawings according your references. Very interesting. I'll write an article about the wing of flies when I finish all Diptera families. I don't speak German, but I have a copy of the Hennig's great work about the wings of flies and the manuals of Nearctic and Palaeartic diptera, Wing venation and the hypothesis on its evolution is too important within the Diptera. Unfortunately the evolution is a topic that I am working on just recently and I still have much to learn

Not in it.wiki :D I wrote L'apparato boccale masticatore è il tipo più primitivo e quello maggiormente rappresentato nella classe degli Insetti (the chewing mouthparts are the most primitive kind and the most represented among the insects). I think that most (or all?) entomologists are agree with the concept that there is only a type of ancestral mouthparts. Tip: Add categories to your files

Thanks a lot for contributing to the Wikimedia Commons! Here's a tip to make your uploads more useful: Why not add some categories to describe them? This will help more people to find and use them.

Here's how:

1) If you're using the UploadWizard, you can add categories to each file when you describe it. Just click "more options" for the file and add the categories which make sense:

2) You can also pick the file from your list of uploads, edit the file description page, and manually add the category code at the end of the page.

For example, if you are uploading a diagram showing the orbits of comets, you add the following code:

[[Category:Comets]]

This will make the diagram show up in the categories "Astronomical diagrams" and "Comets".

When picking categories, try to choose a specific category ("Astronomical diagrams") over a generic one ("Illustrations").

Hi Siga. I just made you your own credit template, and I've added it onto one of your images (Gnorimus_nobilis_side.jpg). You can try and do the rest if you want to. This simply tells anyone that if they want to use on of your images, they should mention you as the author, and tell you if they are going to use it. If this causes any trouble for you, feel free to put it up for deletion. But in the mean time, I think it is quite a good idea. User:Llorenzi is a notable user who has this template. Help with identification of one specimen

Hi, I see you had uploaded much pictures of coleopterans, and suppose that you could help me with identification of one interesting specimen of Chrysomela genus - look. It is very similar (or it even may be, but I`m not sure) to Chrysomela populi, But this specimen has interesting characteristics: 4 little black spots(!) - two on (elytron) shoulders and two on elytron raphe (or suture). I know only specimens without any spots in there, just two black spots on apical angles of elytrons, that it has too. I found it in Latvia country in Riga town at the border of Imanta and Dzirciema streets. May be you have some ideas or keybooks of coleopterans and could help me with identification. I agree with your guess. You have here the distribution of the guy and here a key for all european species, with poluli on #5. Colour aberrations are common in beetles, and the black spots you mention are not really spots. The wing cases are slightly transparent and you see dark parts from below the wing cases shining through. Yes, but how accurately these spots are placed and have punctually shaped! I know about the aberration in beetles, simple examples are Harmonia axiridis, Aromia moschata, but I don`t even though that C. populi has aberrational specimens. Alright it mean that specimen is Chrysomela populi, I`ll move name. / You know I make these two pictures, C. populi and Saperda charcarias, on the one day together, finding them on the one plant. Dear Siga! My name is Patricia and I'm a doctor in Portugal. I'm writing an article reporting the case of a young male that ingested a Berberomeloe majalis and suffered from acute kidney injury (cantharidin poisoning), to be published in Clinical Kidney Journal. I found a picture of this beetle in wikimedia commons (from 1st May 2011). I 'd like to ask you if I can use it in my article. If yes, what are the conditions? Do you have any License of use? German article Koleopterologie

Congratulations on making this a great article.Have you seen this [6]? Notice especially the photos from the Humboldt Museum (Naturkundemuseum, Berlin) (the case showing the microscope and other tools - I thought this was excellent) Why not make a Beetle Collections Methodology Gallery sometime.
