English: Kyōto Prefecture is on the island of Honshu in Japan. It is one of the 47 prefectures. Its capital is the city of Kyoto. Other than the capital, major landmarks include the city of Uji, Kyoto and Amanohashidate, one of the three vistas of Japan (along with Matsushima Bay in Miyagi Prefecture and Itsukushima Shrine, popularly known as "Miyajima," in Hiroshima Prefecture). Kyoto is in the Kansai region.
