Generic edit
The BSicon roundels are designed to allow for lines and services to be indicated consistent with the iconicity in system maps and wayfinding. The BSicon code for roundels is in the form xLIN colorname
, where x is one of the shape prefixes, kreis (circle), raute (diamond) or quadrat (square), and colorname is one of the standard BSicon line colors.
Two of the standard colors are normally indicated for line icons with a prefix. For roundels, the "f" and "u" prefixes have been supplanted by "forest" and "darkblue" suffixes, as prefixes are only used to denote roundel shape. White roundels are additionally available although not a standard BSicon feature color.

The rest use standard color suffixes to indicate the color of the roundel.
Line designation overlays edit
The roundels are designed to allow overlaying a one- or two-character alphanumeric identifier. Depending on the transit system design, a suitable identifier may be a line number (such as ) or an abbreviation of the line color (e.g. ). BSicon names for line designators take the form of lLINXm
(where X is the overlaid character) for single characters that overlay the middle of a roundel, and lvLINX-
and lv-LINX
for the first and second of two overlaid characters.
