  • Crest: On a wreath of the colors Argent and Azure, a five bastioned fort divided fesswise Or and Gules, fimbriated Gules and Or, charged with a royal palm Proper.

  2. The embattled partition line is for the wars in which the regiment has taken part.
  3. The arrows stand for five Indian campaigns; the sun in splendor was the old Katipunan device in the Philippine Insurrection.
  4. The crest is for the War with Spain, being the badge of the V Corps in the Spanish colors, and charged with a royal palm to commemorate the fact that the 22nd Infantry was the first regiment to land on Cuban soil in that war.

  4. Below the eagle is a scroll inscribed with the designation of the organization.
  5. On the eagle’s breast is embroidered the shield of the coat of arms and the crest is above the eagle’s head.
