  1. This regiment was in the 3rd Division during World War I, shown by divisional shoulder sleeve insignia on the canton.
  2. The broken chevron represents the part taken by this regiment in pushing back the point of the German drive at the Marne 1918-07-17, for which services the regiment was cited by the French in Orders of the Army, shown by the pendant Croix de guerre.
  • Crest: The boar's head represents the subsequent passage through the German lines and occupation of German territory by this regiment.
  • Motto: The motto has been in use by the Regiment since its activation and translates to “Frightened By No Difficulties.”

  1. A silver color metal and enamel device 1 5/32 inches (2.94cm) in height overall consisting of the shield and crest of the coat of arms within a circlet bearing the motto of the coat of arms and "ROCK OF THE MARNE, JULY 14-18,1918" in blue letters.

  2. It was amended on 1923-04-02.
  3. On 1948-12-29 the insignia was amended to add the motto.

  • Arms:
  1. The flag has a solid background with an embroidered American eagle displayed centered thereon, in Proper Colors.
  2. In its right talon the eagle holds an olive branch; in its left talon, a bundle of 13 arrows, all in proper colors.
  3. Its beak grasps a scroll inscribed with the unit motto.
  4. Below the eagle is a scroll inscribed with the designation of the organization.
  5. On the eagle’s breast is embroidered the shield of the coat of arms and the crest is above the eagle’s head.
