Thomas Adams built 1072 Thomas Jefferson Street NW in 1812 and the adjoining 1074 Thomas Jefferson Street NW was built in 1810. Carriage maker George W. Mason purchased both houses around 1880. The buildings are jointly listed on the District of Columbia Inventory of Historic Sites and are contributing properties to the Georgetown Historic District.
