The Adler Cego pack is one of a number of Animal Tarot patterns that emerged in Germany from the early 19th century onwards. It is one of only two tarot packs still manufactured in Germany, the other being of the Bourgeois Tarot pattern. Today they are only made by ASS Altenburger as "Adler-Cego Nr. 99".

The current version of the court cards were incorporated some time during the 19th century from an earlier design, called Pattern F200 or XP8 by the International Playing-Card Society. F200 was first observed in the early 19th century.[1]

The tarock designs appeared as early as c. 1820, originally as part of a 78-card pack.[2] Today only 54-card packs are made.
