Category:Alarm (ship, 1830)

English: The 193-ton cutter Alarm was the World's largest racing yacht when she was launched in 1830. She was modelled and built by the George & Thomas Inman Bros. shipyard at Lymington in 1830 for a charter member of the Royal Yacht Squadron, Joseph Weld (1777–1863), of Lulworth Castle, Dorset. She was the largest yacht to take part in the RYS £100 Cup in 1851. In 1852 she was lengthened by 20ft at the bow, her tonnage was increased to 243 tons, and she was rerigged as a schooner. She raced until 1867 and was broken up in 1889.[1]
