Category:Allentown Municipal Golf Course, Allentown, Pennsylvania

The Allentown Municipal Golf Course is located on far west Tilghman Street, about a quarter-mile to the west of Cedar Crest Boulevard in far West Allentown. It is a municipal golf course, open to the public.

The 18-Hole Championship golf course was established in July 1950 and opened for play on 30 May 1952. It was built on land bequeathed to the city by the Trexler Estate, with the stipulation that a public golf course be erected within 20 years after Harry Trexler's passing.

Since its opening, the course has since been reconstructed with new tees and greens, sculptured bunkers, fairway irrigation, and two ponds. Large well-trapped greens, tree lined fairways and five tee positions create a fun and challenging round of golf. One of the most memorable moments of the Allentown Municipal Golf Course happened in the summer of 1963. On August 10th, Arnold Palmer and Gary Player played an exhibition match at the course. Palmer shot a 61, setting a course record that still stands.

The facility also features a lighted driving range with a new hybrid hitting surface installed and a short game practice area with two additional practice putting greens. The Proshop stocks a variety of golf equipment, balls, and gloves. The course also offers Jack's Slice Restaurant, known for its pizza.
