Anders Gustaf Wide (1854-1938) was a professor and physician. He was born on September 17, 1854 in Sundsvall, Sweden to Nils Wide and Katarina Ulrica Wiklund. He was a student at Uppsala University and graduated in 1874. He went to medical school in 1880 and received his medical license in 1884. He married Anna Ruuth (1856-1925) on September 24, 1885. From 1887 to 1888 he served as a teacher of sports medicine. In 1888 he was appointed director of the Gymnastical-Orthopedic Institute in Sweden. In 1890 he became a professor of sports medicine and orthopedics at the Karolinska Institute. from 1886 to 1890 he served as a physician in Söderköping and since 1891 in Lysekil. He died in 1938.
