Appelbol – a traditional Dutch pastry: a whole apple, after removing the the core and pips, is stuffed with sugar and cinnamon and eventually raisins, wrapped in puff pastry and baked. The pastry is popular in the Netherlands and Belgium, in the autumn and winter. It is eaten in the morning together with a cup of coffee or as a dessert. It can be served with whipped cream and/of vanilla ice-cream, especially in a restaurant.
