Category:Arles Alyscamps - Chapelle Saint-Accurse

Located at the entrance to the Alyscamps site to the left of the Sarcophagi alley, this set is in fact made up of three distinct elements : a Romanesque porch, the only vestige of the former Saint-Césaire-le-Vieux church, against which is backed by a funeral chapel, and, straddling both, a wall-niche tomb grafted later. The chapel was built in 1520, in expiation for the death of Accurse de la Tour, killed in a duel by Antoine de Quiqueran de Beaujeu, both young arlesian nobles. Subsequently it served as a funeral chapel for other Arles noble families.
