English: The Büdnerei is a relatively small byre-dwelling (wohnstallhaus) owned by a Büdner, one of the lowest classes of peasants in northern Germany. The Büdner were owner of the houses, but they called only a small amount of land their own (at first the land was only leased). Sometimes it was not more than a garden. The legal categorization was somewhat different in the different lordships. It changed over time. In the 19th century there was in northern Germany a clear demarcation to the Häusler.
Deutsch: Die Büdnerei war ein relativ kleines Wohnstallhaus, das einem Büdner in Teilen Norddeutschlands gehörte. Der Büdner war ein mit staatlicher Starthilfe angesiedelter Hauseigentümer, hatte jedoch nur wenig Land, manchmal nicht größer als ein Garten (anfangs nur gepachtet). Es reichte ihm nicht zur Eigenversorgung. Die rechtliche Kategorie änderte sich mit der Zeit. Nach Abschaffung des Häusler-Standes in Mecklenburg ersetzten Büdner diese de facto, später gab es erneut Häusler, die sozial niedriger im Dorf als Büdner standen.
