Vairagad, also spelled Vairagarh, Wairagad or Wairagarh, is a historic site in eastern Maharashtra. It was a regional capital, has an ancient fort and many temple ruins. These date from the Mana Nagavanshi dynasty which ruled this region in the 1st millennium before the Gond dynasty. To the early temples, the Gond dynasty added more Hindu temples. Of particular note are the restorations completed by Rani Hirai and her adopted son Ram Sah in the 17th and 18th century, as the Maratha empire emerged.

One of the best preserved stone temples from the pre-14th century era is outside the fort, on a hilltop near the northern bank of Triveni river, after the sangam of Khobragadi and Satnale rivers. This temple was one of seven temples of Vairagad, all attributed to Raja Harachandra Gond who also built the Armori temple in Gadchiroli district. However, of the seven original temples of Vairagad, only the Bhandareshwar temple has survived.

The temple stands on a jagati, has a square plan and a phamsana-style shikhara. The top has four seated Nandi in the corner, topped by a kalasha. A circumambulatory path is provided on the jagati. A Shiva linga is in the sanctum with a small seated Nandi in front. The notable artwork here is of Ganesha.
