Binz Ambulance- und Umwelttechnik GmbH in Ilmenau, was founded in 1991 as a subsidiary of Binz GmbH & Co. KG, Lorch, Baden-Württemberg. Binz-Imenau took over the whole Binz production of ambulances and nontransporting EMS vehicles based on VW Transporter (T4 and newer) and Mercedes-Benz Sprinter. Binz-Ilmenau also manufactures mobile hospitals, and fire fighting, Emergency management, and security vehicles. In 2012, the companies were separated and got different owners. Both used the Binz brand, Binz-Lorch in grey and Binz-Ilmenau in blue and white. Binz Ambulance- und Umwelttechnik GmbH started a joint-venture with Chinese Brilliance Automotive in 2015. After the demise of Binz GmbH & Co. KG in 2019, Binz-Ilmenau is sole user of the brand.
