Category:Birdsisle House, Tenterden, Kent
The former building, Birdsisle House, St Michaels, Tenterden, Kent, England, dated from at least the 16th century. It was converted around 1897 by Joseph Robert Diggle J.P., and re-named St Michael's Grange. It was purchased by headmaster H.F. Varley during World War I, and became Asheton Grange School, for boys aged 8 to 18. The school closed in 1930. It became a rehabilitation home for unemployed men, then a home for children with special needs. The building was destroyed by a German bomb in 1940, and a smaller building now stands in its place.
