English: The w:British Rail Mark 4 is w:British Rail's fourth design of passenger carriages. They were designed for use with Class 91 locomotives to provide services on the newly-electrified East Coast Main Line between London, Leeds, and Edinburgh. Together, the sets were branded as Intercity 225 by British Rail, the number referring to its maximum speed in kilometres per hour, and an echo of the Intercity 125 brand that was applied to the High Speed Trains previously used on the route. They were built between 1989 and 1991 by Metro Cammell of Birmingham (now GEC Alsthom).
