Brown Bros was a wholesaler of car, bicycle and motorcycle accessories. It was founded in 1897 by brothers Ernest, Albert, Frederic and John Brown on Great Eastern Street London, but grew out of an earlier business founded 1892. The accessory trade of the brothers Brown was one of the largest in the world. Eventually they also traded complete bikes, cars and motorcycles. From 1902 they started producing motorcycles with the brand name "The Brown". These were 348- and 496 cc and 498 cc single cylinder side valve V-twin. For this, among others, Minerva and Precision built engines were used. In 1916 the production was discontinued. After World War I it was restarted but the brand was now "Vindec" and the motorcycle became simpler, light two-stroke and four-stroke 300cc JAP engines. In 1929 the production of motorcycles ended.
