English: Buddhist mythology traditionally often portrays their major figures in trinities, which are stock items in Buddhist art. Mahavira Temple in one room displays an array of three such, although one lacks one figure to leave eight figures. They are structured as a main figure with two attendant figures. Here Buddha Shakyamuni is attended by Manjushri and Samantabhadra, Amitabha is attended by Avalokitesvara and Mahasthamaprapta, and Bhaisajyaguru is attended by the sun and the moon: Suryaprabha and Chandraprabha, which latter is missing. This is clearly a mythological cosmology, such as the Greeks had (Hesiod). It is Indic and not native Chinese. The contributory media do not show the whole array.
