Category:Buddha heads

The severed heads of Buddha statues have become a common motif in Western home and garden decor. This is deeply disrespectful in Buddhism, as it represents the destruction of the faith and serves as a reminder of imperialism and colonization that has plagued Buddhist communities through the course of history.

In less problematic instances, these components of destroyed statues may be preserved as cultural artifacts and may continue to receive adoration by Buddhists based on circumstance.
