Category:Cheetham Hill Wesleyan Cemetery

Cheetham Hill Wesleyan Cemetery was opened in 1834 and was the burial place of wealthy merchants of North Manchester. After it closed to new burials in 1966, the cemetery was neglected and overgrown and graves were vandalized. The land was sold to property developers in 2003. The remains of 20,000 bodies were exhumbed and re-interred in a mass grave in Bury, Lancashire, and the historic memorials were bulldozed to make way for a new Tesco superstore.
