Category:Chris's Family Restaurant, Allentown, Pennsylvania

Chris's Family Restaurant is located at 5635 Tilghman Street in Kuhnsville, far West Allentown.

The Restaurant first opened as the Peter Pan Diner in 1956. Was a pre-manufactured stainless-steel structure, originally owned by Stelios Kavounas. In September 1958, an LP Gas explosion destroyed the building, although only slight injuries occurred. Replaced by a similar stainless-steel diner in 1959. However the Kavounas went bankrupt, and the business was purchased by his father, who operated it successfully until 1976.

The Peter Pan Diner was a major stop for truckers on the US 22 Lehigh Valley Thruway, with the truckers staying at the local motels in Kuhnsville and leaving early in the morning for their destinations. The diner also was a favorite place for late-night moviegoers after seeing films at the Super Skyway Drive-In, located directly behind the diner.

Kavounas sold the diner in 1976 to Kenny Kane and in 1996, it was sold to Chris Kyrkopoulos. In June 1991, Kyrkopoulos built a new diner from brick and masonry, naming it Chris's Family Restaurant. The old diner was subsequently closed.

The Peter Pan Diner from 1958 was subsequently sold and moved to Cape Cod, Massachusetts in June 1992. It is now known as Betsy's Diner in Cape Cod.
